My name is Malinee Ganahl.� I'd like to start by explaining what my name tells about me.
"Malinee" is a Thai name that essentially means Jasmine. I'm a first generation American.� My parents immigrated here from Bangkok, Thailand. Growing up as an Asian American, I've learned to appreciate cultural differences.
"Ganahl" is an Austrian name that can be traced back to one village in Austria. My husband is Swiss and spent his childhood in Europe. Anyone with this last name can trace it back to the same village. |

Cultural heritage is important to me, as is my family.� And in my family, I am "Mommy." I have a six-year old daughter named Autumn.�Her birthday is on the first day of autumn.� We didn't plan it that way.� My husband and I decided on the name long before we got pregnant.� I think God decided it was good name.
Autumn is growing up so quickly.� Just the other day she hurt her finger and ran to me crying.� So I gave her a hug and kissed the boo-boo.� She stopped crying, but sighed in a very grown-up way.� "I wish they still worked."� "Wish what still worked?"� "Magic Mommy Kisses." |

I am also an artist.� I have some of my pieces here to show you that tell about me. |

This first image has hands as the focal point.� I have a fascination with hands.� They are incredibly expressive and can tell a lot about a person.� As far as art, I feel like using hands can really draw the viewer into a composition. |

|
|
|
|
I also enjoy fantasy and science fiction.� These next two are pieces with that theme. |
|

|
This last abstract composition combines elements of a rose and a flute.� This represents my love of both nature and music. |

|
I've been a musician for many years. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
I have been involved with Church music for over 15 years.� I have played flute and guitar, but mostly I sing. |
|
|
|
Currently I sing with the DuPage Chorale.� It is an amazing group of about 120 members ranging from ages 18 to 80.� Our upcoming concert is at the College of DuPage on Sunday, December 5.� We will be performing Vivaldi's Gloria and one of Mozart's Vespers.� Come see us! |
