Blessings: Do We Ponder?

She lay helpless and weak
Eyes so lifeless
A once pretty smile
Dancing dim patterns
Across her haggard face
The slightest nod
Her only acknowledgement
Of my presence
Its only a matter of time
Her mother softly sighed
A quivering voice
Matching her distressed eyes.

My own misused energy
Is haunting my nights
Ya Allah help me utilize
This temporal strength,
Dedicate my service solely
For your Divine Might

He couldnt  have been
More than four
Scrounging through debris
Body smeared with bloodied
dust
I heard the thunder
I heard my mothers shrill
His little hands kept
digging
Weeping his mothers
Sacred name
They yanked him away
Washed the dust
But could never wipe
Away the burning memories
Of his searing pain

Security blankets
My sleepy awareness
Ya Allah pierce into
My submerged consciousness
The silenced voices grieving
In the depth of darkness
Help me share with them the
Comfort of my fleeting
Respite.

He died so young
High ambitions
A doctor, engineer,
Maybe even the next
Generation inventor
Of some high technology
He died without having
Time to comprehend
Lifes only Reality
He died busily being
Entertained
On the fast track
Treadmill of times
Cruelty

My prayers I refrain for
All of humanity
For some lifes a game
For others a tragedy
To see through the veils
We need purified identities
Swim against the treacherous
Waves of consumer personalities
Change the tide of dying morality

Ya Ummati
The answers we do have to rebuild
Dynasties
All it takes is what you possess
To realize the sheer magnitude of our

Bestowed destiny
May Allah bless our efforts with
blissful abodes
And thrones of everlasting dignity...
