The cover story was an industrial accident and explosion - the July Fourth 1984 Industrial Disaster of Jefferson County. Darrow Chemicals was bought out by the Umbrella Corporation in 1972. Their accidental find helped them in their research which would eventually result in the Racoon City Outbreak. The government has also continued it's research using Trioxin and it's variants.
