Having parted our little safe haven of Camp Walker Corporal Kim and I venture toward Camp Henry where we mulch down the local dining facility offerings. Once the thing is accomplished we move toward our buddy Steve's place where Steve is still thinking he will stay in Taegu through the weekend and go out on the town Saturday night. Little does he know he is about to get conned into riding a nice 100 mile round trip to someplace he has never been before.

We arrive at Steve's about 9 and at 1020 he is conned and on his bike showing us the fastest way to Anshim. (Basically, we followed the subway structures till they hit Anshim.) About that time big signs show the friendly little blue oval with a 4 stuck in it that we followed all the way to Kyong Ju. Of course, don't take the little oval 28 road that goes to Kyong Ju by north route unless you like doing things the hard way. I know some of you like it that way...I do. Back to subject matter, we left about 1020 from Camp Henry. To get to the northern corner of Taegu around Anshim took us a good hour. Traffic is fun to ride with but the exhaust stinks too. Dangerous yes, but that is all a part of the pleasure. From there once the road goes under the overpass you will see a bunch of squash gardens to your right. That took us another hour because we stopped for lunch too. From there we took a few short breaks but landed just outside of Yong Chon at about 1300. Another lunch break and we buzzed through Yong Chon. Look for a curving road to the left and follow the Kyong Ju signs after you zoom down a good size hill that and intersection runs across in the center of Yong Chon. That is faster at least. We landed on the road again and from here took a lengthier time. Corporal Kim is not a seasoned veteran of riding and became very sluggish. The roads also get harder on this stretch. Shoulders disappear and traffic has to accommodate the biker. Don't worry they like honking at you but usually give you plenty of room. After sometime, I chained my bike to Corporal Kim's to help him take a break and pulled him. His hands got too tired and he let go of the bike. The bloody picture of him tells the rest of the story. He scratched up his elbow and knee pretty good. I owe him a LCD for his cellular now. He got back up and biked on with new vigor and we made Kyong Ju about 1700.

We stayed at a nice Yo Gwaun for about 40,000 won and they stored our bikes in a locked stairway. They did our laundry for an extra 10,000 won. Ya, it is a bit pricey. 1,000 won equates just under 1 US dollar. We then went out and found and excellent restaurant for a whoppin' 30,000. Then heard about a free concert where we spent the rest of the night watching folk dances, magic shows and a few rock bands. We then swung by a grocery store to stock up on junk food for the ride home.

The next morning we had some kind of tofu in broth soup and Corporal Kim grabbed a bus for Taegu at 2,300 won. Steve and I jumped on our bikes where we played with using my rack for my 40+lb. backpack. We found some bungie cords for 2,000 won and aborted the idea. We left at 1100 and rode back at a faster pace. We hit Yong Chon at 1300 with a nice rest before where we snacked a bit on Korean calorie bars. (You must drink water with them they are very dry.) Then stopped for lunch outside of Yong Chon till almost 1400 and arrived at Anshim at about 1530. We then weaved through traffic till we got to Camp Henry at about 1615 and I got back to Camp Walker 1630. It was a great ride. If you have the bike and the guts do it. Take about 100,000 won there are lots of fun stuff to spend it on.
