POETRY BY SYED IBRAHIM

A DESIRE

With an Angel face, thou flared into an aim,
With thy glowing pupils, enlightened thou came.

Though look to be white as a candle of flame,
But resembled rose-red and pale lily of fame.

Indeed, is though perspective so glazing and calm,
With all that glittering and smiling like shame.

The shining moon though looks bright,
But no light of thine,
So is thy life, seems no crown of a Queen.

Youthfulness of thine, claiming for its blossoming,
Why? While away thine fragrance for just a reason.

Pleasures of life are unseen and are umpteen,
Why? Drag thineself to the drastic ends of time.

Past cannot be present since "Tenses" are so timid,
Be wise, think and decided, for the future is so kind.

Just a sign of the pupils, say 'Yes'! of mind,
For an era that, could be thy destine.

HOPE OF TRANQUILLITY

It was a very pleasant and joyous day,
When we both met in a very cheerful way.

My consent of parting knowledge to her,
Was held so gay,
For wisdom of her future,
That was a hope of ray.

Since then, our real friendship,
So advanced, I swear,
It bloomed into us,
So undisrupted with fragrance of gay.

We both never use to miss,
Those moments, a single day,
Duly exchanging knowledge,
And views in long parley.

Oh! What a pleasant and joyous,
Moments use to be they,
A long span of a decade elapsed,
In great decay.

While looking, I used to be amazed,
At her charming face,
I used to gazed and gaze,
At her perspective, that was so gay.

Oh! what a charming and salty,
complexion face, she had so lovely,
Her lips like folded buds,
And delightful pupils stories to say.

I began to feel extremely pity,
For her youth that was passing away,
She liked to be spinster, until her aim,
Of higher education parted away.

Though, already half of her life span,
Spent away, in seeking higher education,
She yet had a desire to fulfil the intellect,
That could be her destiny.

Alas! I said, I fulfilled thine ambition,
For so long years, in a silver way,
Why not? You say, "Yes!" my dear,
For both together, further live and stay,

As you know! Rivers flow into the sea,
Only to feel so gaiety,
As such, come on my dear mingle in me,
And we both shall be so happy.

Only a word of thine consent,
Just say "Yes!" with a smile and shy,
That will change the whole prospect,
Of our hearts, with a serene tranquillity.

MALDIVES A COUNTRY OF TREASURES

The sky is blue,
The sea is blue,
Wind in between blew,
That's the Maldives clue.

Initially, I didn't knew,
Maldives a country new,
An archipelago of cute,
Inhabited and uninhabited grew.

An oval shaped Jewel,
Formed chain that glow,
Grouped into Atolls few,
That's the Maldives view.

Male' is an "Honey Dew,"
For youngsters so beautiful,
Surrounded buildings new,
That's the capital to view.

Islam is the religion for all,
Mother tongue is Dhivehi,
President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom,
An Independent Republic for you.

Beautiful resorts welcomes you,
Paradise on earth you knew,
Tourists pour in with merry due,
Enjoy life to the brimest true.

Coloured fish in waters glow,
Beautiful corals and gems view,
It's the God's gift peace to live,
Maldives treasures for you.

Bokuraas, dhonis and ships sail,
Flights and air taxis regularly flew,
To connect the islands so cute,
Oh! That's beautiful Maldives view.
