Soul's Reality
There is a path
between reality and the soul...
dark, twisted, bramble-filled,
cutting and scratching truth
from the face of self-discovery
opening and reopening wounds
exposing scarred inhibitions, lies
bleeding path, slippery, sliding...
down, descending into murky-watered revelations
falling farther into soul's dim shadows
sharp-clawed realization grasps ankles of despair
lifting, propelling starved-soul desperation
out of gloomy glades of twisted torment...
super-sonic speeding,
forward...
into blinding light, burning needle-fingered nourishment,
replenishing hopeful commiseration,
restoring vision, faith, consciousness,
fondling broken dreams into reformation...
optimism now dawning on flowered fields of expectation
There is a path...
broken and bruised, I stumbled through
emerging from the darkness of denial,
crawling on bloody hands and knees..
from the innermost realms of self-sacrifice
out into the dazzling illumination of self-love...
This is my soul's reality.
Dianthus Bloom
(for Glenda)
golden sun shines on
strong Dianthus blooms planted
deep in abundant
soil of friendship's garden
harmony of ancient souls
The Moon Wept Tonight
The moon wept tonight
a single breath held
spanning moments into days
heart-murmured hesitation
seizing dreams of true love
clenched firmly in hands of fear
The moon gasped tonight
choked-back despair
cutting straws of security
silky, blue-ribboned hope
severed by sharp blades of confusion
fluttering in the forlorn wind
The moon mourned tonight
for the death of a heart
last card in the stack was played
Joker prevailed in a swift game of spades
Queen of hearts never had a chance...
the deck was loaded
The moon prayed tonight
heaven's strong arms
cradling a solemn sigh
trees echoing reassurance
soft, melodic notes
soothing a tormented mind
The moon smiled tonight
luminescent warmth comforting
midnight black pain of remorse
effervescence did shine
on soul starved of compassion
future no longer dim
The moon whispered tonight
of heaven's sweet plan
and celestial intervention
to unite our two hearts as one
Come home to me, dear
don't prove the moon wrong
Dark Lucite Dreams
How could you say goodbye
to dark lucite transparency?
Breaking doors down with solemnity,
jagged knives of regression slashing
truth into a dreamer's heart...
How could you whisper goodnight
to raven colored desperation
staring boldly back from a soot-filled heart?
Suffocation of love's last breath
where dreams are unobtainable...
But it's of no consequence when
cold steel shoulders freeze submission
Despair superimposed onto china masks of scorn
make children's nightmares seem petty,
for the true nightmare is the reality of denial
Homeless Woman
I could feel your dark pain, as you cried in the rain
for the death of your innocence.
I could see your despair, restless dreams in the air
as you layed on this cold, hard park bench.
I could hear your lost dreams, hopelessness your requiem,
empty prayers granting you no salvation.
I could taste the bitterness, love and life that you missed,
clenched fists raised at the God of Creation.
Angels hovered beside, in the snow as you died...
Mercy had finally spoken.
SO take with you these words; fly away my frail bird,
your wings are no longer broken.
River Inside Me
Wait, look at the sky now.
The way the clouds part,
Opening their arms
To reveal love's light shining brightly
On two hearts formerly bathed in darkness
Look now.
See the moon filtering down
A luminescent reflection
Of a green eyed beauty
Enveloping my dreams
See the trees now.
The way they tremble and shake
From your touch, my love
Like the way my heart bent
When you said you loved me
Lift your eyes to the sky, baby
See the fireworks in all their glory
A multitude of glorious colors,
Exploding just for me and you
Feel the poetry flowing through my veins
Words of grandeur you placed there
With gentle hands of tenderness
A single drop of hope transfused
Into a heart drained of compassion
Look at the ocean,
my angel.
I saw you fly over it today
Feathered wings soaring, diving
Into the gentle waves of this dream
You saved me from drowning,
Floated me to the surface of your love
Take my hand, my dear.
Walk with me through orchid fields of tomorrow
That speak of a life without fear
Petals unfolding a truth in your eyes
A boundless future of divine virtuosity
Sleep here with me.
Let my caress soothe your aching heart
Touching your silken hair
with fingers of adoration
rest here forever in my arms, my love
