POETRY BY ALI RIYAZ
You
You’ve got a bright yellow
road ahead
What’s left behind is tainted red
Those voices will always follow you
But your pride won’t let ‘em swallow you
Your smile’s a wonder, I wince and wonder
How have you lived? Who’s your sponsor?
All Mighty? The Ever-Watchful? Always forgetful
Yet your faith’s your defender
At night I’ve sat and thought and thought again
Of miracles I’ve heard yours’ a splendor
Your road, your smile and what you’ve left behind
Lift’s my spirit onto sweetness unfelt
Moment of Hindsight
Kill that light
I feel naked
Don’t want no demons
To find my soul
Embrace me. Here take my hand
Let me show you joy
The core of my pain
To bind you within
My love’s a prison
A small two by four
Yet within these walls
White doves fly
Open your arms
Open your eyes
Fear not the inevitable
Let's just live this moment

Memory of You
Passing my time in thought,
As I've often done before.
I find harsh cold emptiness,
Of the vengeful winter snow.
Those days of happiness
Of spring and summer dreams.
Have crossed the lonely depths
Leaving dark clouds so bleak.
Your sweet memory lingers
Though bleached are the leaves.
The fond Autumn that I loved,
Has now left me bitter grief.
Those nights of shared warmth,
Comforts my anxious mind.
But no matter how much I try,
Your caring touch, I cannot find.
But though you're far and distant,
Your kiss transcends the miles,
And through the mists of time,
Brings me this smile.
My Song
Breathless, as the seduction of the moment
Departs- leaving that familiar feeling
That I know too well. A merciless hunger,
An eternal thirst, unquenched and hurting.
Anger, is the love song I hum
For this dance of lustful passion,
Is but vengeance. An undying retaliation,
A ruthless punishment, an endless torture.
Pain, is now my bitter lullaby,
My last hope for sanity. I surrender
My sight- embrace blindness,
The untainted darkness, "home sweet home".
