DESERT WAVES

Across the open land
Stretches the golden yellow sand
Spreading out in undulating shapes
Like small hills
Fading into the horizon

The wind blows by
Raising dust and sandy ripples
Making a misty haze
Blurring the blue skyline

The sun shines bright
Over the dunes
While the date palm fronds
Cast shadows of shades
A camel or two wanders by
Leaving trails of footprints
For the traveller to follow

Heat waves radiate
A deceptive image
Like a dreamers oasis
The mirage spreads
As an ocean of cool water
Over the desert waves

SUN

You give light
You give heat
You are a burning ball of fire

You rise in the east
You sleep in the west
You glitter by dawn
You hide by dusk darkening the sky
You are the crown of solar power

You cast shadows by day
And solstices by month
Your moves mark years
Your path bear tides
That only an eclipse can blot

You are a wave of energy
A flash of brightness
People use to worship
As a God of luminous desire

Sun, shams, suraj
You are known by many names
Your shining rays can lift up spirits
Your dim beams can dampen souls
And when your gone beyond the horizon
A mystic sky overshadows the earth

You are a wonder
With a glittering glare
That eyes cannot stare
Yet humans ponder
Through your sparkling body
Standing clear like a golden sphere

A NEW DAY

Wake up
to the stillness of the night
No birds chirping
No traffic moving
Four walls staring
 Drifting your thoughts,
through and through
To a time long gone by.

From the halo on your mind
comes a vision,
From the shadows
comes an image;
Like a picture
painted on the wall,
To stay forever.

Streaks of sunlight
Beaming through the curtain
Break the dimness of fading moonlight:
Another day has dawned:
Another life to live.

Let go the dreams
let go the fantasies
Shake yourself, open your eyes,
"its all a fallacy"
Turn on the radio
let the music play on
to the tune of existence.
