POETRY BY HASSAN AMIR

MAGIC OF LOVE
I reach out for you
Across the distance
I travel miles and miles
And cross time and space
And I am back
Where I belong
Besides you
Near you
Closer to you
All around you
Distance and space
Is no obstacle
And time, my love
Is no restraint
Love is, they say
Time and distance
As measured
By our hearts
If so just know
I am only a heartbeat away
Cant you hear
My soft whisper
Saying your name
In your ear
Can’t you feel?
My gentle touch
Oh god! Help me
I love you so much
I am never
Far from you
Reach out
Reach out for me
The power of love
You can see
Feel…feel me
Sitting next to you
Place your hand
With in mine
And look deep
Deep in to my eyes
Look in to my heart
And my very soul
Say it my love
Say it all
Close your eyes
And softly whisper
The three magic words
That I long to hear
the eternal fire
I sit besides you
And feel the warmth
I feel safe and sound
Cocooned in your love
I look at you
And feel reassured
I touch your hand
And feel life pulsating
Through your veins
Into my body
You place your hand
Across my heart
My heart beats in time
To your heartbeat
Not too fast; never too slow
But always in perfect synchronization
You touch my hair
And I feel the wind
Of the heavens
Coursing through the strands
I touch your cheek
And feel the silky petal
You touch my eyes
And I see your heart
I see all the love
And I see your soul
We entwine our hands
And feel the bond of life
We let our bodies do
What our hearts desire
We let love speak
In the language of the senses
We let love sing
In the raptures of desire
We let love sigh
In the contentment of the souls
We let love live
Through our earthly bodies
And we let love live
Through our cosmic souls
I lie besides you
Sated to the soul
You place your hand
Across my frenzied heart
Heart to heart
Lovers forever
I feel the warmth through your hand
The warmth of love
The warmth of love and life
The warmth of love and life and of the eternal fire

SILENCE OF THE DAWN
my
earth
your sky
my silence
your laughter
my prayers
your wish
they are
so alike
i wished
to follow you
wherever you
may go
but
how different
are we
how divided
are we
in our souls
i walk the
low summits
of the earth
you fly
the lofty heights
of the eternal skies
maybe
somewhere
a mountain stands
so high
that i
can climb
to the sky
maybe
the sky dips
over the
endless horizon
to meet
the earth
till then
till when
we meet again
we shall meet thus
through my words
and in the
silence of the dawn
thought
a thought
stands skewered
dripping blood
in the empty courtyard
of my mind
pray to god
that i never
think of you ... again
a dismal evening
a dismal evening
pale
a yellowed leaf
lingering
afraid to fall
waiting
memories of your face
streak across
fine
lost
dejected
bewildered
desire sinks
in a languid pool
of pretty dark eyes
of timeless kohl
a teardrop hangs
like a twinkling star
unable to fall
over the dark
unfathomble

a maldivian fisherman
sailing the seas of life
holding his tiller steady
always looking at the horizon
to fulill his deams ever-so-ready
fathered by the sea
mothered by the waves
their vitality and charm
he does have
sired by the sun
coccooned in it's light
he is a man
with strength and might
at dawn he sets out
to reap the bounties
of god's given gift
travelling the high seas
the winds, the waves
by heart he knows
the stars and the moon
all their cosmic laws
every breath he draws
every breath till his last
holding onto his livelihood
holding onto sea steadfast
mirthful and boisterous
living life with zest
humble, proud, simple, complex
living life at its best
