Rachel Pistol

Rachel I suppose was the first female friend I had at school. We got to know each other quite well because we counted the House points together in Year 6, and her company was pleasant enough to stop it being a chore (I liked counting anyway- In the infants I always used to see how high I could count in between when my Mum brought me to school and assembly).

Rachel was a really good friend when it came to my emerging love life. I told her that I was in love with Zoe Bassett before I told anyone else, and she protected the information staunchly. Sometimes she instructed Zoe to count House points with me when she was ill. Actually I'm not sure if that was her doing or not. Even if it was I expect she chose her because of her maths skills rather than to make me happy.

Rachel was a really nice person. She went off to that really good girls school that I can't spell after Coombe Hill and I never saw her again- probably the friend that I regret losing more than any other, not least because I could have done with having one female friend of my own age when started at Tiffins.
