Once again I had been informed of this Lurcher and Exemption Show a reasonable distance away. I arrived without incident, with quite a long wait until the show started, and proceeded at a slow pace. It was a cool day, but the time was spent pleasantly chatting to the sociable crowd at this village Gala. Some remembered Barney from previous shows, and we found another person who had visited his website.

The person who told me of the show lived locally, found me at the show, and proved just as friendly as I had imagined. I went in our class in the Lurcher show, and had no surprise when we were not picked.

I spent a very pleasant hour chatting to my new friend, who invited me back for a short visit afterwards. Barney had found an admirer in a young child with her parents. I suggested she take Barney in a class, so they booked her in best child handler. She entered and I think she enjoyed the experience, but looked a little bewildered by the whole thing. Barney, ever the opportunist was taking advantage of this until I squared him up from outside the ring.

Finally our class arrived for the exemption show. I went in...Best Crossbreed. Very surprised, we won, and then went on to get second in the next, The best working type dog, another new class. He also got third in appealing eyes and second the dog the judge likes best.

So we had four places out of four classes. I called round at my new friend's house before coming home from another good day. Next Sunday is SCAMPS so I'm looking forward to seeing all our friends in the CMC, although don't expect many show results. Usually get the same as Lurcher shows.
