| Introduction... New Zealand and Australia have permanent bases on Antarctica. Both Countries have issued stamps to help confirm their claims to the land there. There are very strong links between the USA Navy and the New Zealand base .. The US "Operation Deepfreeze" uses Christchurch, NZ as their jump-off point to their "Litttle America" base. Servicemen are stationed in Christchurch. The Little America base is only a few miles from the New Zealand Scott Base, in the Ross Dependency. The stamp issuing policies have been modest, and it is quite feasible to complete a collection of both Ross Dependency, and of Australian Antarctic Territory, without taking out an extra mortgage!
