REVIEW OF MALCOLM RAE
BOOK, THOUGHTS
By Dan Jensen
What good is faith unless it is
expressed?
Do not allow those people who surround you to become deceived
into thinking that they have more authority than they actually
do.
Leaders who lack experience and understanding are incapable and
should realize that they ought to step aside so that a person who is more
prepared can lead.
Those are just some of the ideas expressed by third
year Augustana philosophy major Malcolm Rae in the book Thoughts.
"It's
basically a collection of notes I have made," said Rae. "Just thoughtful
refection about life in contemporary times."
The book is the first for
Rae, a Nanaimo native who has always been one who has tried to set high
goals.
"I have always liked challenges," he said.
Rae is undecided
about whether he wants to return to Augustana again next fall and try out for
the Vikings hockey team, or pursue a master's degree in theology at Briercrest
College, in Saskatchewan.
"I didn't make the team this past year but I
would like to try out again," he said. "I definitely plan on playing college
hockey somewhere."
Rae's book has received varying reactions from fellow
students.
"Some people say I jump around from one point to another, but
it is like a chronological collection of notes and what I say one day and what I
might be thinking about the next might be completely different," he said. "But I
have also received reactions, where people tell me that is just the way they
feel."
Thoughts is available for sale at Pop'lar Books in downtown
