The greatest aim in life for me
Is not to cross the endless sea,
Nor is it to leaad an army brave
Or search the mysteries of some cave.
It's not to take some fearless quest
Or scale a lofty mountain crest.
For Adventure does not have the thrill
That I have found within God's will.
My aim in life is not to be
Admired by men of bond or free.
It's not to see my name in lights
Or know by heart earth's coutless sights.
My goal is not to be welll known
For what I know or what I own.
Fame is greaat, but greater still
Is what I've found within God's will.
My aim in life is not to see
Beyond the bounds of destiny.
It's not to know or be all wise
Or to explain the mysteries of the skies
Or tell the workings of this earth
Of love and life, of death and birth,
For knowledge alone can never fill
Nor take the place of God's great will.
My aim is not of coutless wealth
Or to live a life of perfect health.
It's not to miss or never see
The teachings of true poverty.
It's not to tread another down
By force to win and wear his crown,
The fountains of wealth can never spill
What I have found within God's will.
God's wonderous will is my one aim,
Should it be bought with tear or pain
May God help me to do my best,
To grit my teeth and pas the test,
To face the storm of life with fear
O naught but God and His voice to hear,
To lay aside the profitless thrill,
To live my life within God's will.
Yea, beter than wealth or fame
Is to please the One, who through His name,
Can turn a cold dampening tear
Into glistening joy and endless cheer.
The will of God, what it is to me,
Is life and death and destiny,
When on its deathbed the earth lies still,
He begins to live who's done God's will.
