VICTORY IN A SMILE

Why not try a smile, dear friend,
When troubles do arise?
And keep your eyes toward Heaven,
For there the victory lies
Up there we know that Jesus lives,
And tho' it's many a mile
He's waiting there with open arms
And a friendly smile.
I know the road of life is rough
With seldom a mile that's smooth,
But the aches and pains that we must face,
Our tears can never soothe,
There's many a rock we'll have to go 'round
And many a chasm wide
O'er which we'll have to leap or jump
To reach the other side.
But never worry or cry,
Tho' odds against you run,
For with the passing of the storm clouds
You'll find a shining sun,
Many a man with hanging head
In tears walks on and on,
When he only has to lift his eyes
To find his troubles gone.

When the rugged trials of life do come,
Then pray and pray each day.
And when you feel too weak to pray,
A praying man is never whipped
Tho' beaten he may be.
For he holds hands with God's dear Son,
And he holds the victory.
Keep your eyes on God, my friend,
And trials will fade away.
The clouds of life will all move on,
If you'll sing and smile and pray.
So as you travel, look up and smile
With every step that's trod,
For there you'll find the One who cares;
There you'll find your God.
Look up and sing and smile and pray,
And some day you will see
Right thru those clouds which blocked your view
To God and victory.
