It is now midsummer and hard to believe that this is the longest day of the year. We have had a very cold wet Spring, the first like this in at least ten years but at last it looks like some warmer weather may be coming our way. Actually the day after writing this the mercury climbed to 33C which has made it very warm and muggy. I am writing up this website tonight as I want to keep YAHOO Geocities going. The Netscape site can be somewhat temperamental. Not too much news of the afamily apart from Sylvia--now doing a little bit better but she is on chemotherapy and will be for the next six weeks at least after which she will have surgery.
Alistair is fine- likewise John. Alistairs workload has fallen off abruptly so he is really going to have to apply himself Tends to lose heart if things arent going too well. Dianne is OK and as she is working quite a lot of hours I have Colleeen a lot of the time but she is very good and a pleasure to have around. Likes to come over to my place quite a lot nowadays and she finds plenty of things to do. Katherine finishes up at school for the summer tomorrow so I will probably have the two of them quite a lot of days. It is nice and I really enjoy the chance I have been given to help looking after them.. They really cet on fairly well together-- sometimes they squabble a bit but no doubt that is normal. Katherine always has some project or other on the go and keeps busy. She is a big girl for seven.
Now we are at July 23rd which is Colleen's birthday and she is four years old. She had her family birthday at the house tonight and enjoyed herself a lot We all enjoyed ourselves a lot. I seem to have a lot of time with Colleen with Dianne working a lot of hours at her pharmacy. She is so proud to be four and just wants now to be five so that she can go to a real school all day.
Here I am back on September 4th and the two girls are now back at school. Colleen started at Montessori today but I haven't seen her since she went. She was looking forward to it a lot. Katherine started yesterday ast Tom Thomson and is in grade 2 she has met a lot of her old friends from last year and couldnt wait to go to school this morning.
UPDATE SEPT 17th 2002. School in for two weeks now and both kids are enjoying it. Colleen has settled in well to Montessori. She really seems to enjoy it a lot even though she only goes three half days a week. They go on holiday at the end of next week and Alistair is taking a week off work to go.

That is the current news of the day. Hurricane Isabel currently over Maryl;and is headed for Pennsylvania where it will swing north and anything left of it will drench Burlington tonight and tomorrow. The rain has just started here now and both Katherines and Colleens schools are closed tomorrow so we will have the pair of them at home
There will also be gale force winds with the heavy rain which just started tonight and will go on all day tomorrow Anyhow Colleen goes for her paed. appt tomorrow. They are both settling in as I write and Dianne will not be too much longer.
Saturday night late and Dianne just phonned She is working 10 to 2 so will not be home till 3 Which means I should wait around and pick the kids up from Brendas. and will probably not go to church tomorrow. At least I seem to have a useful function looking after these two little waifs. At least they will have a nice time with Brenda who will ruin them
Iasbel has gone the way of all good hurricanes and died out suddenly over Ontario and went to Hurricane Heaven.
Katherine is finished with Grade 2 and has been promoted to Grade 3 where we will start in September. My that seems a long way away. Colleen will most likely be going to Montessori after the summer break. Both of them will be back to swimming of course which means lots of long hot days at the poolside slowly frying my skin.
DIANNE will be working at the Pharmacy and she seems to be getting a lot of hours in this year. Alistair will of couse be taking lots more trips this year wherever the fancy takes him he said he was going back to Vancouver for a few days as he ahs a client out there and he is not long back from a few days in Colorado and of cousre a week in Newfoundland
John Liam and Callum will be going to Britain in four weeks and they will be there for a whole fortnight and I will be with them-- staying with the kids at night If the heat keeps up liek this I will be very glad indeed to be going.
CHESSIE will be going into the kennels while we are away. He will be going to the FORRESTDALE KENNELS near Carlisle whilst we are there. CHESSIE has been there for a long weekend and was very highly impressed iwth the place though he did get a little sunburn as he insisted on laying in the sun when he did have a shady sot. I am using Aftersun which is working well.
Now it is sthe end of August 2003 and I am off to bed.
TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 2ND 2003 Back to school Day for Katherine at least. She was very glad indeed to get back to TOM THOMPSON school and is now in Grade3 No longer in one of the PORTABLES Colleen goes back tomorrow She went to see DR Cuddy this afternoon and got a good report is to see Dr FORD-JONES which I think is a good idea. We had a nice day together. Her DAD came over in the morning and we all tidied the back Yard pulling out a lot of very healthy looking trees the had taken firm root all over the back lawn. Also pulled up a lot of dead raspberry canes
She starts school tomorrow and probably for a half day just now till the New year and then she will go all day. She is really ready for this. Was making freelance pictures on the computer tonight which were really good
WELCOME to October 2003 though this looks like being a rather chilly entry. Just 3Cthis morning which will play havoc with the wasps and mosquitos that have been plaguing our lives of late. Am writing this on YAHOO GEOCITIES to keep the site open. Hope you enjoy the offering.
Letter from brenda today and a lovely picture of Oakbank feel quite homesick
Weather is very cold and stormy for early Oct and has been in single digits all day this morning it was 2C
which is quite low for the beginning of Oct. It is a lot warmer in Yellowknife and much of the N.W.T.,
Just really an update from Malcolmcanmore now that we are getting the website properly under way. Both girls are at school as are the boys who still live in Mississauga. I was up babysitting them last night as John had an evening meeting and they seem much the same as always. Unfortunately the are not exactly fountains of news about what they might be doing though callum does show me some of his activities. liam was glued to his computer the whole time I was there and when he went to bed put on a CD of a Harry Potter reading which was still going 2 hrs later Liam almost totally ignores me when I am there-- any bonding as his grandpa is totally missing.
Diannes pair are both going concerns and thoroughly enjoying school. Colleen is a barrel of fun these days. So is Katherine though she is quieter and really lookks out for Little sister. Must stop writing this now as it s time for the SCHOOL RUN which today was just Katherine and Dianne took Colleen.
My painting is coming along a bit better after being slowed down in the summer, lack of time as I was with Katherine and Colleen a lot of days Now they are both in school mornings and afternoons so I do have time to get on with it. It is not too easy to paint after dark and the light has gone -- or is that just an excuse. I will have charge if them from about 3 when I pick up Colleen until about 6.45 when Dianne will arrive home from work. Today Alistair left for 3 days in Boston -- a nice break for him.. He seems able to take plenty of days away from his office but I feel he never really puts extra effort into his work. He is forever having weekends off, weeks away, here, there and everywhere.
