Noble Oaks Vineyard & Winery produces estate bottled Malbec, a Bordeaux variety, as well as Syrah, a Rhone variety grown by the Topa Topa Vineyard in the Ojai Valley. All Noble Oaks wines are aged for a minimum of one year in new American oak barrels followed by bottle aging. The 2002 Noble Oaks Malbec was released in the spring of 2005. The 2003 Noble Oaks Malbec and Syrah were bottled in January 2005 and await release. The 2004 Noble Oaks Malbec and Syrah are aging in new American oak barrels. With the purchase of 2004 harvest Cabernet Franc from the old Spanish Land Grant, Rancho Sisquoc, Noble Oaks added another Bordeaux varietal to it's red line, and a chance offering of Bien Nacido Vineyard Chardonnay grapes resulted in the forst Noble Oaks white. The non-typical; crisp Chardonnay was bottled in April 2005.

Noble Oaks is committed to creating single vineyard wine, allowing the elements to impart natural virtues for a full, distinguishing character.

The Estate vineyard is planted in a 7x9 east/west hillside configuration allowing full sun to each vine, to accommodate canopy management and permit ease of harvest.

The vines are netted after veraison to discourage birds and other hungry creatures.

Malbec is the signature of Noble Oaks Vineyard & Winery. Least known of the 5 noble grapes of Bordeaux, low in yield; it produces opaque, intense wine, saturated blackish red/purple in hue.

Malbec is a wine for the mature palate. Variously described as bold, burly and athletic, it is damp earth, truffles and woods - rustic in nature, with spicy undertones of licorice, chocolate, sweet tobacco, prunes and minerals. Robust and muscular with heady aromas, it has an untamed animal quality; meaty, gamey, dark brooding - BEWARE!
