Episode 3
in santiago's office, margo and santiago were in each other's arms. suddenly the phone rang. ramirez called. he told santiago about the demonstration in front of the hospital near the construction area. the cement truck had arrived but there was no way it could go through the group of demonstrators. santiago was upset. he told margo that he had to go. he asked margo to leave the parquet samples with elsa, he would give them a look later. margo said she could wait in the office until santiago returned, but santiago said he might take long, so he asked her to leave. santiago left for the construction site. margo exited santiago's office and quickly meet elsa, her friend also santiago's secretary. elsa wondered why margo looked so happy. "he kissed me! your boss actually kissed me!" elsa couldn't believe her ears. margo happily offered to treat elsa coffee. elsa, eager to know what happened, followed margo to the cafetaria. at the cafetaria margo told elsa that she wanted to celebrate her success by going shopping. she wanted to buy new clothes, shoes and handbag. elsa warned margo,"i know who my boss is. he's very loyal to his fiancee. he'll never leave her." but margo had made up her mind.
at the estradas home, silvia entered the living room holding one of her girls. margo had come home, and made a mess at the living room. silvia was angry as she had spent the entire morning cleaning the house. she said to her baby daughter,"listen, if you see anymore of these mess, pick them up and throw them in the garage, understand?" silvia picked up the mess and put them in a garbage bag, and went into the kitchen to prepare lunch. while she was cooking, margo entered the kitchen and asked about her stuffs. silvia told her that she had put them in a garbage bag. margo was angry. silvia handed the bag to margo and insisted that the bag was clean. "my kids are growing up and they have started crawling. they put everything they saw inside their mouth. you can't just leave your things lying around!" silvia then offered margo soup but margo refused, she wanted to eat out. after margo left, augusto went home. he had the lunch silvia prepared. augusto wondered why didn't margo come home. silvia told him margo went out to eat because the two of them fought over cleanliness of the house. augusto smiled, he admitted that margo was a little messy. silvia asked whether margo had ever cooked for augusto. "no, everytime she goes into the kitchen something burns." augusto kept eating and continued,"i guess i'll be coming home for lunch more often now."
in front if the hospital, the demonstration was getting upbeat, leaded by lisa. serpa looked worried, he told the hospital staffs that he agreed to their petition, but that didn't mean that they were allowed to do a demonstration. but the demonstration kept going. trying to get himself out of the mess, serpa went back into the hospital building and locked himself in his office. "i shouldn't have suspended that nurse! look what bigger trouble she's causing!" in front of the hospital, a group of people from a local tv station arrived to report on the demonstration. lisa bravely spoke in front of the camera about all the problems faced by the hospital due to the construction work. she then suggested the reporter to interview serpa, the hospital director, to get better insights on the issue. however nobody knew where serpa was. in the mean time, santiago arrived. the moment lisa saw santiago, she told the reporter,"as the hospital director is unavailable to answer your questions, why don't you talk to that man. he is the engineer in charge of the construction." the reporter quickly approached santiago. santiago was upset,"i have no comment!" he walked straight towards lisa and said,"come with me!" lisa was puzzled. santiago repeated,"we can either walk like two well mannered people or i'm going to drag you!" luckily gustavo came to lisa's rescue. he asked whether lisa wanted him to accompany her. lisa replied,"no, it's okay. this man is a well bred gentleman." santiago walked to his site office, lisa followed. once there, he showed lisa the model of the shopping mall he was constructing besides the hospital. "it's going to be the biggest shopping mall in the country. there will be a lot of spaces for many people." lisa cynically replied,"and why do you think i care about that? we have dozens of patients dying at the hospital. they don't need the spaces you offer! what they need are treatment and hope and miracles!" santiago was nonplussed. lisa continued,"we sacrifice every day of our lives to treat the patients." santiago replied,"so that's what you guys do? sacrifice your own lives to help others? remember what i told you when we met at the club? sometimes our enemy is right in front of us. do you know what i meant? let me tell you. there is somebody inside the hospital itself who wanted to have the building destroyed! we were offered to purchase the hospital land, the offer wouldn't have happened unless somebody in the hospital had agreed to sell it. the person had agreed to have the hospital demolished. it was a huge agreement, people inside the hospital and the community council might be involved." unfortunately lisa didn't believe santiago's story,"it can't be true. you just want to confuse me. it's not true!" santiago replied,"it's the truth! if only you can imagine the amount of money involved if the agreement is concluded. a lot of people wil benefit from it." lisa still didn't believe him,"that's it! you are just trying to confuse me! you are just telling me all this so that i will move the blame away from you! you are irresponsible! you are trying to make it as if the hospital is guilty instead of you!" santiago was angry,"call me irresponsible, or anything you want! but if you want the truth, it's in what i've told you!" lisa, thinking that santiago was trying to make fun of her, was very mad. she wanted to leave but santiago called her,"hey, take this invoice first!" lisa took a glance at it,"what's this?" santiago replied,"that's the costs for repairing the damage you made on the wet cement, including material and labour costs." lisa was even angrier,"you can't do this to me!" santiago shot back,"you owe me the entire amount!" lisa screamed,"you'll be sorry for this!" then she left.
at home, sil watched the breaking news as it was aired live on tv. she was shocked to see lisa on screen, heading the demonstration. she called augusto and told him about it. after leaving a message for margo to vincente, augusto left for the hospital. at the same time, ernesto watched the live telecast at his house. he was angry,"i don't need thic kind of publicity!" he called serpa, but there was no answer. "oh, so you don't want to answer my call. you'll be sorry!" barbara entered the room and told ernesto that she wanted to go to the construction area to see santiago. ernesto said no, but barbara insisted. ernesto,"fine, but you are coming with me, and i'm leaving now!" barbara replied,"i'm all set!"
as barbara arrived at the construction area, lisa was on her way back to the hospital. barbara wondered,"who's that girl who just left santiago's office?" barbara walked towards the office. she entered and saw santiago getting ready to leave for hospital to find the insider who provided the information about the hospital for solis enterprise. ramirez was in the office too. barbara was angry as santiago disregarded her,"i came here to see you and you are leaving?" santiago who was still mad with the previous incident angrily replied,"why did you choose to come now? you told me you hate the dirt and dust. you are suppose to come during the opening ceremony whre there are beautiful lamps and carpets, not now! this is not a social club where we can meet and tal, this is the place where i work, and i have work to do now!" barbara was angry,"you don't have time for me at all, because you are busy with other 'visitors'! who was the woman who left your office just now?" santiago replied,"she's the most stubborn woman i've ever met. now i have to go. you can wait for me here. it's safe here." santiago walked away and left barbara there.
augusto arrived at the hospital and inquired abut his sister. the staffs told him that she went to the construction site and he should wait for her. augusto said that he was willing to wait for 10 minutes, if lisa didn't turn up he would go after her. he was then introduced to some of the staffs. suddenly serpa turned up,"the show is over! those who don't have work, go home! those who have, get back to your work!" the crowd disbanded, leaving ruby and augusto. augusto said to ruby,"you come to my house often, you know everything about my family. do you know why are my sisters hiding things from me? they seem afraid of me." ruby laughingly replied,"no augusto, maybe they just don't want to worry you." augusto sighed,"silvia didn't tell me that she has money problems, now lisa who always talks to me is hiding her problems from me. i just hope beba won't do the same."
beba was at the principle's ofiice. she failed 5 subjects. the principle wanted to give her the report card personally. he asked to meet her brother. he gave her a letter and report card to be given to brother. when she left the office, beba told mimi what happened. she said she was scared to tell augusto and she wanted to skip the next class. she tore off the school badge from her uniform. mimi was shocked,"you can't do that! the teachers are going to punish us! tearing the school badge is like burning the national flag!" beba insisted that she didn't want to go to class. mimi said she wanted to go with beba. beba replied,"are you nuts? you are the smartest student in our class!" but mimi still wanted to follow her. they went to see roberto. roberto asked what was wrong with beba. mimi asked beba to tell roberto, but it was hard for beba to say it out. finally she spoke,"i have a problem.. with my.. choir!" both mimi and roberto were puzzled,"choir??" beba replied,"yes.. choir. you know how i love to be in the choir team, but they kicked me out. i'm very sad." roberto laughed,"if you ask me about backstreet boys maybe i can figure something out, but if it's about your school choir, how on earth can i help you?" beba sighed,"maybe you are right, maybe i'm just complicating things up." roberto smiled. mimi shot beba a monsterous look for not telling roberto the truth!
lisa arrived at hospital, she was surprised to see augusto there. she told them that everything was alright. serpa ordered to see her and gustavo at his office. they went there, but serpa's secretary told them there was a guy seeing serpa at that moment, so they had to wait. in serpa's office, ernesto was angry because serpa didn't take care of things like he was supposed to. when ernesto left, gustavo and lisa entered. lisa told serpa her suspicions that the people at the municipal council wanted to close down the hospital. serpa said that wasn't impossible because the hospital was going to reopen the microbilogy lab, and everything needed for it had been approved. they wouldn't close the hospital. lisa and gustavo were happy to hear that. however serpa still looked worried after hearing lisa's suspicions. lisa and gustavo left serpa's office. gustavo asked lisa out,"when are you going to stop avoiding me?" lisa answered,"i enjoy your company and your support, but please don't expect anything more from me than friendship." lisa said she had two nieces at home that she hadn't got the chance to kiss yesterday, so she had to go home.
as ernesto exited the hospital, santiago arrived. they both wondered why each other was there. santiago said that he wanted to meet the insider. ernesto asked santiago to calm down. their insider would take care of everything. santiago asked,"what did he say?" ernesto answered,"he asked for extra time. everything will settle smoothly." the two of them left the hospital and went to the site office. ramirez was still there but barbara had left. ramirez told them that barbara took a cab. ernesto sighed,"she was the one who wanted so much to come, now she had left." ernesto wanted to leave too. santiago asked if ernesto wanted santiago to walk him to his car. ernesto said no. after ernesto left, ramirez told santiago barbara's message,"her exact words are 'she had thought about it'." santiago didn't say anything. the construction work continued, but the day's work was behind schedule due to the demonstration. ramirez told santiago that he had to let the workers go, otherwise if santiago agreed he could ask them to work extra shifts. santiago said no, they should let the workers go. he wanted to buy lunch himself and asked whether ramirez wanted anything. ramirez replied,"yes, but without tomato!"
margo entered a fast foot restaurant only to see santiago lining up. she quickly lined up behind him. when santiago made his order, margo sexily whispered from behind,"with or without chilli?" santiago turned around, surprised to see margo. margo smiled and continued,"it tastes better with chilli. i gather you are not from around here. you must be staying at some elite living area." santiago replied,"no, but my construction site is just nearby, besides the hospital." santiago completed his order. the cashier asked,"is that all?" margo quickly cut in and made her order. the cashier asked,"everything in the same bill?" margo glanced at santiago. santiago answered,"yes, it's on me." as they got their order, margo asked santiago to join her, but santiago said he had a friend waiting at the construction site. margo made a sad face and said,"when i saw you just now, my heart was pounding hard, i was so happy. now you had to leave, i guess i have to eat alone, and look at people people passing by.." margo turned around to look for a table. santiago felt guilty,"how can i leave while you are sad. come on, i'm joining you." margo smiled. they picked their table and had their meals. they talked as the ate. eventually margo said,"you must be the kind of guy who likes challenges." santiago smiled. margo continued,"i have a great challenge for you, but it's going to happen only if you agree to forget about you work for the rest of the day. would you like to accept it?" margo smiled seductively. santiago's eyes shone.
