PATROL 117 stands for Peoples Action Team Responding On-Line, Number 1 in Service, Number 1 in Response, 7 minutes Response Time.

This program is an expanded Streetwatch program of the Department of Interior and Local Government which actively involves the local community, Non-Government Organization and the People's Organization proactively and reactively.

PATROL 117 program works as a Calling Center for people who needs help 24 hours nationwide accessible through landline and mobile phones whether police, fire or medical assistance. Some centers adapt their own communication network in order to serve even beyond their area of responsibility.

In case of emergency, dial 117 and follow this simple reporting procedure wherever applicable adapted from the REACT International, Inc, courtesy of REACT Kaamulan of Malaybalay city.

C Caller's name (give your name for identification)
L Location (state specific address or reference point of the incident)
I Incident (what type) If it involves suspect identification, provide ample information as to height, color, hair, clothing and other notable description.
P Problem (report status and if incident is Life Threatening (LT) or Non-Life Threatening (NLT). After giving this information, advise operator to request for type of assistance (police, fire, medic, tow truck, etc.).

For Example: Hello 117, this is Juan dela Cruz I'm calling from corner Fortich and Cudal Sts., Malaybalay City. Robbery in progress, subject with gun and has shot a victim, request police and medical assistance immediately. Incident is LIFE THREATENING.

Remember:

  1. Operator will ask several questions to include contact number before dispatching the call.

  2. Stay calm and focus when reporting an incident.

  3. Do not hang up phone, wait for further advisory unless instructed to do so.

  4. Avoid calling 117 when under the influence of alcohol. Instead have someone sober report the incident.

  5. Do not call 117 if not necessary, all non-emergency calls are terminated immediately.

  6. Hotline 117 is not a directory. Use local phone directory hotline.

  7. Calling Centers can trace prank callers. Prank calling is illegal and punishable by law (refer to existing local ordinance on Anti-Prank Calling).

  8. Teach children how to use hotline 117 properly.

  9. Mobile phone callers are charged P5.00 per minute call and P2.50 per text message sent.
