Simple Past
Simple past tense is irregular in Malayalam. It is difficult to make conjugation rules for past tense.
Simple past forms of verbs with roots ending in iq, eq, éq can be formed by removing the ending and adding iccu, eccu or éccu.
If the root ends in a hard consonant like θθ , mm , m , ll or ļļ , simple past is usually formed by adding i to the root.
