| Foundation Stone for the new Puthupally St.George Church laid by H.B. Catholicose & H.G. Mor Thimothios |
The foundation stone for the new Puthupally St. George Church was laid at 11.30 am on Sunday 19th December by His Beatitude the Catholicose Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I assisted by His Grace Thomas Mor Thimothios, the Metropolitan of the Kottayam and the Archdiocese of Greater India. Earlier the Holy Qurbana was celebrated by H.G. Mor Thimothios Metropolitan in the Puthupally Patriarchal Centre at 9.30 am. H.B.Catholicose arrived at Puthupally at 11.15 am after celebrating Holy Qurbana at the nearby Nalunnakkal St. Adai's Church.
In September, during the 3rd Apostolic Visit of His Holiness the Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas to Malankara, H.H. has blessed this foundation stone at Manarcad St. Mary's Cathedral. Later the foundation stone was kept at the St. John's Attamangalam Church, Kumarakom from where it was brought to the Puthupally on 19th early morning in a specially arranged jeep accompanied by several other vehicles. Hundreds of faithful were present during the ceremony.
There are at present 134 families in this church. The parent church of these families is the Puthupally St. George Valiyapally.
