PATHANAMTHITTA: Jacobite Syrian Christian Church synod secretary Joseph Mar Gregorios has sought the mediation of other Churches to settle the century-old dispute in the Malankara Church.
He was inaugurating an ecumenical meet at the 112th Maramon Convention on Wednesday.
He said the Jacobite faction would extend full cooperation to any conciliatory talks. He wanted both the Jacobite and Orthodox factions to withdraw cases filed against each other and remain as two sister Churches. He reiterated that the Jacobite faction was ready to accept the formula put forth by the former Maharashtra Governor P.C. Alexander to end the dispute between the two factions.
Way of the Cross
Presiding over the ecumenical meet, Mar Thoma Metropolitan Philipose Mar Chrysostum expressed deep concern of the Mar Thoma Church over the police action on a Secretariat march organised by the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday in connection with the Thrikunnathu Seminary issue.
Delivering the keynote address, the Thrissur Bishop and Archbishop-designate of the Syro-Malabar Church Mar Andrew Thazhath said it was puzzling why there were disputes between Churches as the ultimate goal of all Churches was to follow the Way of the Cross, the Archbishop-designate said.
Man's inability to imbibe truth in its totality was the root cause of all ills in modern society.
The newly elected Major Archbishop of the Malankara Catholic Church Isaac Mar Cleemis and Joseph Mar Iraeneus Suffragan Metropolitan addressed the ecumenical meet.
