Metropolitan restrained from convening committees, Synod

KOCHI: The Ernakulam Munsiff Court has restrained Baselius Mar Thoma Didimos I from convening the Malankara Association Working Committee, Managing Committee or the Episcopal Synod of the Malankara Church in the capacity of the Malankara Metropolitan or Catholicos.
Ernakulam Additional Munsiff Santhosh Kumar passed the order in a petition filed by Sabu Thomas and others in the wake of the notice issued by the Metropolitan to convene the Malankara Association on September 21, 2006.
Initially, the court passed an interim injunction, which is now absolute after hearing both sides. The petitioners had contended that the Metropolitan had not been elected Catholicos and/or Malankara Metropolitan as per the provisions of the 1934 constitution of the Church.
