Reception to new bishops
Kottayam, July 8: A warm reception was accorded to the
five newly ordained bishops of the Syrian Jacobite Church at the St. Joseph's
Cathedral here on Saturday afternoon, under the auspices of the Kottayam
diocese.
The new bishops, Mathews Mar Thevodesios (Kollam), Mathews Mar Aprem (Angamli-High
range), Geevarghese Mar Koorilose (Niranam), Pathrose Mar Osthathios (Outer
Kerala-Delhi) and Kuriakose Mar Yousebious (Trissur) were ceremoniously received
at the Cathedral with candle light torches, and were later led to a felicitation
meet.
Marthoma Metropolitan Rev. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostum inaugurated the meet
which was presided over by Catholicos Baselios Thomas I. In his keynote address,
Justice K.T.Thomas said that the church has a tumultuous history and it is a
proven fact that ultimate victory will be at the side of the churches if they
moved on the path of truth.
Diocesan bishop Thomas Mar Theemothoes delivered the keynote address,
V.N.Vasavan MLA,. Municipal Chairperson Reeba Varkey, District Panchayat
President Thomas Kunnappally, Church Trustee George Mathew Thekkethalakkal and
Thambu George Thukalan offered felicitations.
