"I am ready to abdicate" - Catholicose H.B. Thomas I

In an opening message of the Jacobite convention at Trivandrum St. Peter's Church, Catholicose H.B. Baselius Thomas I expressed his desire to relinquish the post.

"I have already expressed this desire in a letter given to the Patriarch of Antioch. It is my conviction that all metropolitans should retire from the administration activities at the age of 75 and involve in more spiritual and Church's expansion projects." The Catholicose told the press, after the convention meeting.

"Those who are clinging on power after 75 years will not be able to lead the Church in the right manner.  When we are released from the administration activities at the age of full vigour and health, we can work on more gospel activities in the Church." The Catholicose added.

"There are now 13 Jacobite churches under police control.  It is injustice to the Church.  I can't take rest until all these churches are redeemed from police custody."

"The suspension of 7 police officers, who are involved in the Thrikkunnath Seminary lathi charge, is only an eye-wash gesture of the government." Bava noticed.
