NEDUMBASSERY: The Jacobite
faction on Saturday urged Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to desist from his
tactics to delay the peace talks between the Malankara Churches under the
auspices of the Cabinet Sub-Committee.
Oommen Chandy, an Orthodox, has always supported them. But at the same time he,
who has an eye on the large vote bank of the Jacobite faction, cunningly takes
steps not to provoke the Jacobites by promising false offers, alleged Jacobite
Church spokesman Fr Varghese Kallapara.
He also alleged that Oommen Chandy, fully aware of the huge number of followers
of Jacobite
Church
in Puthuppally Assembly constituency, was trying to delay the Cabinet
Sub-Committee discussion till the local body elections.
Fr Kallapara alleged that Chandy succeeded in gaining at least 20 churches, 5
Diocesan headquarters and several educational institutions for the Orthodox from
the Jacobite faction.
He is still indulged in transferring the well-dominated ancient Jacobite
churches like Manarkkad, Kothamangalam, Chelad, Kuruppampady, Vengoor,
Pallikkara, Puthencruz, Kandanad, Karingachira, Mulamthuruthy, Kolenchery and
Kadamattom to the Orthodox faction.
The Jacobite faction would be forced to take drastic steps if the Cabinet Sub
Committee failed to take any decision
