Rev.Fr.Elias Kozhiparambath ordained Ramban

NEDUMBASSERY: Fr Elias Kozhiparambath was on Sunday (2 Nov 2003) ordained as Ramban by the Catholicose Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I Bava at the Akaparambu Mar Sabor Afroath church.   Metropolitans Joseph Mar Gregorios, Geevarghese Mar Polycarpus, Markos Mar Coorilos, Kuriakose Mar Diascoros, Yuhanon Mar Milithios and Geevarghese Mar Athanasius and several priests were co-celebrant of the ceremony. The Apostolic bull of H.H. the Patriarch was read on the occasion.

Rev.Fr.Kurian Maliyil Elevated as Cor Episcopos at Damascus

Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, ordained Rev.Fr. Kurian Maliyil as Cor Episcopos (Arch Priest) during the Holy Qurbana at the Patriarchal Cathedral Damascus on  Sunday, 26 October 2003.  Fr.Kurian Maliyil is the vicar of St.Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Church, Sharjah and he is the member of Panampady St. Mary’s Church, Kottayam. H.G.Kuriakose Mor Julius, H.G.Elias Mor Athanasius, H.G.Kuriakose Mor Diascoros (Kandanad), H.G.Kuriakose Mor Theophilose (MSOT Seminary), Rt.Rev.Eby Pathikal Ramban, Priests and many other dignitaries attended the function at Damascus.

Rev.Fr.Kurian Maliyil was ordained deacon by H.G.Mor Gregorios Geevarghese (Perumpally) when he was at a young age of 12 years old. Fr.Kurian has done his master degree in social science from Kerala  University. He studied at U.T.College at Bangalore for the B.D.Course and done his post graduate studies (M.Th.) at Vidyajyothy Catholic seminary, New Delhi. He belongs to an ancient faithful Syrian Christian family of Panampady St Mary’s Church Kottayam. His wife Susan Kurian is the daughter of Late Rev. Fr. Philippose Kallarackal Puthuppally. Rebeca and Alan are their children. His  parents are Mr. Maliyil Zachariah and late Mrs. Pennamma.  Fr.Kurian is the youngest son  of his family.  He took M.Ed Degree and he was teaching in Marian Junior college Kottayam, St.Mary’s School Madras and later at Sacred Heart higher Secondary School in Bombay. During the construction of St. Peters Cathedral New Delhi, he was  the vicar of the cathedral and he served there for 5 years from 1988. He also served as parish priest at Bombay, Nasik, Kottayam etc. He served the church in different capacities as the secretaries of different spiritual organizations. He was the Gen. Secretary  of the  student‘s Association of the church. H.B. Baselios  Paulose II the Catholicose of Malankara ordained him priest in 1988. Rev.Fr. Kurian was appointed as the vicar of St. Mary’s Church, Sharjah in 2002.  He worked hard to introduce Sunday school text books of MJSSA in English for the children studying in UAE. It was published in the church web site  with the help of the Sharjah Sunday School  Teachers and Chev. Dr. Mathews Abraham, the web master. 

Rev.Fr.Kurian Maliyil is now deeply involved in the construction project of the parish hall & Parsonage at Sharjah which is nearing completion. He is also taking great effort to organize two worship centers at Fujariah and Rasal Khaima in UAE. 

Honorific titles given

To recognize the valuable services rendered by the members of the Sharjah church, H.H. the Patriarch also granted the Honorific titles to Mr.Glory Mathew, Mr.V.M.Alexander and Mr.Kunjumon Parackal. All of them belongs to Sharjah St. Mary’s Jacobite Church. Sharjah Church was started in1979 and the new church was consecrated by H.H.The Patriarch of Antioch in 1997. The construction of the parsonage and the parish hall  is nearing its completion. Mr.Glory Mathew Vanchithattil Nalloparambil, Kottayam is the Marketing Manager of Cosmoplast Ind Co.Sharjah, Mr.Kunjumon Parackal, Angamaly is the General Manager of Promo Advertising Co., and Mr.V.M.Alexander Ellalayil, Kurichy is the Managing Director of Al Shabia Co. L.L.C. They have  made valuable efforts to organize the church activities in UAE. Mr.Glory Mathew is presently working as the Vice President of the church Managing Committee, Mr.Alexander V.M. is the member of the Technical Committee of the church, Mr.Kunjumon Parackal is the General Convener of the Construction Committee of the Sharjah parish hall and Parsonage.
