David said he has gotten over his jealousy, and feels very much at ease now, more than ever. He knows Juana didn't have an iota of love for him and that he respect Juana's love for Mauricio, from that moment onward Juana is off age and she has to decide what is best for her and he won't try to advice her anymore, but he wants to let her know he'll be there if she ever wants him for anything. Juana looked at David in awe and said she didn't realize he loves her that much and that he is such a good friend. In Mauricio's office, the office boy (Ob) was telling Desiree not to dillydally and tried to deny that she isn't the girl he thought she was. Desiree said she doesn't know what he is talking about and that her name is Desiree Rojas, not Daisy, and she is the wife of one of the share holders and cautioned him not to make stupid mistake, with that she walked towards the door and opened it, Ob stopped her and closed the door again and said she can't bluff her way through, he knows for a fact that she was Daisy. Desiree said she is Desiree not the cheap and immoral girl he talked about. Ob asked slyly how could she know that girl was cheap and immoral? That caught Desiree off balance. Ob went for the killing and said You know and I know that we came from the same neighbourhood, section 23 to be precise, and I know you killed your step father when he wanted to rape you, but your brother took the blame instead becoz he didn't want you to rot in jail, and eversince, Daisy the prettiest girl in the whole neighbourhood had disappeared, until now that is. Ob said it's not that he wanted to bring in old sad memories, but he just wanted to let her know that her mother is ill, seriously ill. Much against her better judgement Desiree blurted out 'My mama.. my mama is ill? what kind of illness? Before Ob could answer Mauricio and Humberto came in. Desiree said to Mauricio that she wanted to discuss something with him, but she'll come back later since he is busy, and excused herself, Ob followed her out. In the corridor Desiree whispered to Ob to keep his mouth shut and not to say anything to anybody. Ines who was there at her desk looked on not able to make out what was being said. After Desiree left, Ob made a mockery dance and sang 'I know you know I know who you are, no use in denying it..'. Ines asked Ob what the snake was talking about. he said nothing in particular and he doesn't like to gossip, but hinted that Desiree past is full of mystery and don't anyone try to uncover it. Humberto said he can't wait to hear Mauricio's explanation to the scene he witnessed at the studio. Maurica told Humberto Juana is a fantastic girl, and he knows Humberto was embarrassed at what he saw and understands if he decides not to work at the mag, but Juana isn't the bad girl as his sister had painted her to be. Humberto said he didn't know about that but whatever it is Mauricio is married to Carlota, his sister. Mauricio explained he has left Carlota and that's not becoz of Juana, but their marriage isn't working well and is turning from bad to worse, he and Carlota are not happy together and that happened long before Juana comes into his life.. Humberto said he understands that, but Mauricio is still Carlota's husband. Mauricio said there's no guarantee that any marriges will last forever, and Carlota has a right to have a different future and find happiness with someone else. She should realize that, the sooner the better. Humberto gave the expression that Mauricio's words carry some sense and he nodded his head albeit slowly. He thanked Mauricio for his frankness and said he is sorry that Mauricio is unhappy with Carlota. In her office Desiree took some pills and was greatly troubled with the fact that there's someone there who knows her secret, after all the precaution she had taken covering up her past. And she cried, really cried her heart out. Flashback here... where the young Desiree sat huddled on her bed and the bedroom door opened, a man with thick beard came in sat on the bed and grasped her leg, she backed away and he began to get very rough, she fell to the floor fighting for her life, out of nowhere a gun materialized in her hand and shot him point blank in the chest. End of flashback. She cried and looked really miserable. The suddenly the opened and Armando came in very surprised to see her crying and inquired why. Desiree refused to open up. Juana entered the studio followed by Brandy asking what was the matter with her. Juana said she doesn't know where to began. Brandy asked what has she done? Juana looked so wretched, she said she is so ashamed and don't know where to turn her face, and she blurted out the whole story about kissing Mauricio and being caught by David and Humberto, and she added that now the office will buzz with the talk. Brandy hugged her and consoled her and said she knows how she feels when left alone with Mauricio, and she knows how intimate they are and she cannot control herself but they shouldn't have kissed anywhere in the office. Juana admitted that when she was with Mauricio and kissing him, time stops and they are together in a world of their own. Brandy said as such she should be more cautious and be on guard in future if she finds herself to be alone with Mauricio for a longer period of time. Imagine what would happen then. Humberto came in and looked at Juana, they looked at each other uncomfortably. Brandy asked if she wants David to be with them, Juana said no, she is alright. Humberto asked Brandy to leave them as he has something to talk to Juana, and Brandy left. Juana said she is sorry for what had happened. Humberto said what happened today doesn't have anything to do with him and he knows the extent of Juana relationship with Mauricio and he knows Juana is the reason why Mauricio left Carlota and there isn't an ounce of sympathy in him for Juana. Juana looked real hurt by Humberto's statement and was about to cry and Humberto told her to stop. She said she can't, she feels so ashamed and wishes if only she could disappear. Humberto said for ages he has been waiting for this moment, to work in a studio like this, but imagine his disappointment when he has to share it with the lover of his brother inlaw. In Mauricio's office he handed Ines some files, Ines went out and Enriqueta came in. She said she was sorry the party at his house had turned out badly and hope things are better now. Mauricio asked her to sit down and said it's impossible thing are better,fact is he has left his house and Carlota. Enriqueta was surprised, she said things are getting more complicated with his life, first the cancer, then his determination to have a son which was unsuccessful, then he told her Juana is pregnant with his child. Mauricio asked her if she believe in destiny to which she said she is not sure. Mauricio went on further 'before this I didn't believe in destiny myself, but now each day may faith is growing'. Enriqueta said Mauricio is making it more complicated for Carlota and his adopted son. Mauricio explained that he regretted much at the outturn of events but he has to see this things through and there's a solution to every problem. In her office Enriqueta was musing to herself at how problematic the situation is, imgine how Manuel will feel and do if he finds out that she knows who the father of Juana's baby is and she is keeping it away from him. Suddenly Armando came from behind and put his arms around her waist which startled Enriqueta very much. She told him to stop and she got out of his embrace. He began to throw insult on Manuel. Enriqueta told him to treat Manuel with respect because she loves him, then she went out leaving Armando in such displeasure. In his office (?) David sat looking very angry nursing his feeling and wondered how he could make Juana realize that Mauricio is only playing with her, since Juana loves Mauricio very much he knows it's going to be a difficult task, he thought that kiss from Mauricio wasn't a kiss of love but of deceit. Out of exasperation and desperation he swiped the jug of water and glasses on the table to the floor, smashing them to bits and cut the back of his right hand in the process. Brandy came in and saw his bleeding hand and insisted on helping him but he spurned her away and rudely said he doesn't need her help, which annoyed Brandy and she stormed out in a rage. In the Perez home Dona was talking to Nicolas when the phone rang. Ramon was on the line, he said he has to talk to her and wants to see his children. Dona told him to stop dreaming and slammed the phone down. she sat down looking disturbed. In his rented room Ramon told his niece that Dona didn't want to see him and it would be better if he go home and leave her to live her own life. His niece opposed the idea and said now that they're here he must go and see his children. Back in the Perez, Nicolas told Dona Azucena there was a man yesterday watching the house, Dona asked Nicolas to described him, Nicolas said he was old and with a beard. Dona concluded that Ramon is here in Caracas. Manuel came in and noticed his mother wasn't feeling comfortable and said so. Nicolas explained that she has been that way since she got that phone call. Manuel narrowed his eyes as if asking for explanation from mama, but mama kept mum. In the studio Humberto said to Juana that they need some stuff for the studio. Juana said she doesn't need anything, if he feels he needs something he should order. Then she said she knows what he thinks of her but she wants him to know she never mean to hurt anybody. He said he is not happy about it but she could undo what has been done. She said it's easy for him to say things like that becoz he used to get everything he wanted, and she said she is going through a challenging time and she has to support herself and she can't quit her job as she will have a hard time trying to find another one. He didn't have a ready answer for that and left the studio. In his office, Mauricio handed some papers to Ob, and Ob went out saying he will do as instructed. At the door he almost bumped into Desiree who was coming in. Desiree was shocked to see him and looked scared. Mauricio didn't notice the exchange of look between them. Desiree approached Mauricio's table and lost her balance a bit and stumbled on to a chair. Mauricio asked if something is wrong. She said no and asked Mauricio if they can talk. In the coffee room Humberto made his appearance amids the ho and hum of the office girls. Apparently Humberto was making a deep impact on them. Alberto came in and commented ' hmmm not bad' and then he said he just heard that Humberto is working with the mag. Humberto said gracias. Alberto said sarcastically thanks for informing him. Humberto said he thought he would inform him later after everything is settled. Alberto said Humberto is working there at the wrong time, he shouldn't have. but he knows Carlota is the one who got this job for him and that's becoz she wanted him to spy for her. That angered Humberto and he said he is not passing informations to anybody and excused himself. In the studio Juana was saying to herself that now she has to share the studio with Carlota's brother, and how could she work together with Mauricio's brother inlaw. Then Ines came in and informed her that her boss would like to see her in his office. Juana said thanks.. she will.. soon. At the girls corner Brandy was telling them that David injured himself. She wanted to help him but he rudely refused. someone said how could David lost control of himself, the other explained it's becoz of Juana 'I tell you that girl is using magic to keep him on hooks.. David and our boss are charmed' At that moment the Negro girl came in and informed them David is in his car and that his hand is wounded. Brandy said maybe he is going back or see a doctor. La Bibi said he can't be allowed to drive by himself, his condition may get worse. Brandy got the cue and went out to see for herself. In Mauricio's office Desiree was saying to Mauricio that he may face opposition from Rogelio regarding his venture with the Miami people. Desiree suggested that it might have to do with the way Mauricio was treating Carlota. Mauricio stood up and asked if Rogelio said that. Desiree said no but isn't it obvious. Mauricio said Rogelio shouldn't mix business with personal matters. Desiree told Mauricio not to worry since she is there to help him, and she went over to him, put her hand on his shoulder and stroke his hair, at that moment Juana knocked on the door and entered without waiting for the green light. Desiree was peeved but managed a smile, Mauricio looked at Juana seemingly devoid of any emotion. Juana sat on a chair impishly smiling at Desiree and said to Mauricio 'Ines said you wanted to see me, I'll come back later if you're busy'. Mauricio said no.. no and put his hands on her shoulder to stop her from getting up. Desiree didn't like the scenario and complained that they are in the middle of discussion. Mauricio said that can wait, he wants to talk to Juana first and showed Desiree to the door and Juana laughed mischievously. At Mauricio's house Carlota told Rafael if he wants to have Mauricio back at the house, stay together with them and play the regular father's duty Rafael will have to do what she says and obey every word, Rafael looked at her seemed to be in doubt at what she is getting at. Obviously Carlota is thinking up some strategy on how to get Mauricio back. At the car park outside the mags office, David was in his car. Brandy came and tried to persuade him to come back to the office so she can dress his wound, David was reluctant but he apologized to Brandy for his rudeness towards her but he was dissatisfied with the way Mauricio was treating Juana. He also complained that it's very unlike Juana to fall in out of love that easy. Brandy asked what he has in mind. David explained, obviously Juana was in love with the father of her baby, now she is love with Mauricio. Brandy said Juana was never in love with anybody but Mauricio. David said he finds that's hard to believe, looking that she is pregnant and it's not Mauricio's baby. Brandy asked if he knows that Juana is still a virgin and that she is pregnant due to artificial insemination wrongly administered by the clinic, and Juana still didn't know who the father of her baby was. David was shocked but didn't show it and his face gave the impression to be in deep thought. Continue on Monday 23 June 2003 |
