Makenzie started day care on November 25, 2002.  Her development has been wonderful.  Her weight has stablized and her OT told us she no longer sees a feeding issue.  Makenzie now pulls herself to a stand and cruises furniture.  She prefers to stand up now.  She is signing new words everyday but her favourite signs are "more" and "eat" in that order.  So at 2 1/2 years old Makenzie has done many thing no one thought she would do.  She is forever giving hugs and kisses and loves to dance.  She is becoming quite a character.

Makenzie has been walking for about 6 months now.  She is attending an in-home daycare.  She has mastered counting to 3.  Makenzie will be starting school in September.  Mommy is attending Algonquin College full-time.  She is taking the Developmental Services Worker Program and will graduate in May 2005.  Giovanna has been in school since September.  She is looking forward to having Makenzie attend her school in September.  Daddy has been extremely busy this winter.

Makenzie had a cyst on her eye that was removed in November.  She has healed well but has a large scar.  We're experiencing some very challenging behaviour.  A referral has been made to Behaviour Consultation so hopefully that works.  Routine blood work raised red flags in January.  We will be having repeat blood work.  So far we're trying not to worry but her hemoglobin was high so we are somewhat concerned.  Her blood work will be repeated on February 18.  Makenzie's x-rays for adenoids and tonsils showed no abnormalities so no surgery will be required.  We're waiting for one more hearing test in hopes of getting good results.  If we don't get good results, Makenzie will need a sedated hearing test.  All in all, Makenzie is doing very well.  She is developing into quite the little lady.

It has been quite the year.  Makenzie started JK at our home school in September.  She is in a fully inclusive classroom with a full-time EA.  Her development is great with exception to her speech.  Makenzie is still not "talking" but does use sign language to communicate.  Some words are coming but it is very slow.  Makenzie turned 4 in October.  At Christmas time, she had her hair cut from half-way down her back to chin length.  She definately has lost the baby look.  She's still pretty tiny but steadily growing.

Mommy is in her final semester of DSW at Algonquin College.  This semester she's doing a placement at what used to be the insitution for our area, called Rideau Regional.  She loves it.  She's looking forward to graduation so she can finally work in the field doing what she loves most.

Daddy has been working at Lafarge in the summer and doing snowplowing in the winter.  He loves snowplowing.

Giovanna is getting big and joined ballet this year.  She loves it more than anyone ever imagined.  She's looking forward to her year-end performance.  Mommy will post pictures after.
