Chapter 2: The Full Moon Dali took the book back to her room. She laid on the bed thinking about it. She opened the book again. The first page read: The quest. Your quest is to search out the Obsidian City. Jefu and Amaranth will guide you. Take Rebekka to the Dragon's lair. Your first hint is in there. Dalia looked up with a twinkle in her eyes. Rebekka. No one could ride that dragon! Her, Dalia, the one chosen to ride Rebekka. It was prophesized hundreds of years ago even. Rebekka. But then her thoughts took a sharp turn to the Obsidian City. The Obsidan City. She closed her eyes. It wasn't a rumor. She was so sure her brother was there. Vey was there. She wondered how they had changed in a year. Crisith sat on the bed looking at her. He had been there for her the whole time. No one but the wizards and other scum of Talet knew where it was. Then was this Jefu scum? The door opened. Pel and Rumi came in. "Dalia, aren't you going to eat anymore." She sat up. "Yea, I'll be back down in a minute." She stood to go downstairs. Crisith jumped up to the window ledge. "Be goo..." Dalia stopped. She was shaking. "Oh Good Goddess." Pel ran to her side. "What is it Dalia?" She pointed to Crisith. Pel looked up and froze. "Oh crap." Behind the cat the full moon rose. Not the pure white Cestal Moon, but the blood red Forgoth Moon. Dalia and Pel both shivered. Rumi stood totally still. He tugged at Dali's hem. "Sisi, what does it mean? I've never seen it full. I've never seen it look so..." "Evil." Dali finished. Crisith jumped at Dalia and broke her stare. The moon certainly had a hold on them. "Don't look!" Dali pulled Pel and Rumi out of the room. They went down to the banquet hall. It was located underground somewhat. Lady Rowena and Lady Wisteria came over to them. "What is wrong Dalia?" "Oh Goddess, Lady Rowena. When was the last time it was seen?" "What Dalia?" Dalia looked around. There were no windows in this room. "The full moon?" "It's full every night." Wisteria said. "Not that one." Pel was still shaking. Rumi wasn't much better. Lady Rowena's eyes widened. "The other one is full?" Dali shook her head in confirmation. "This certainly does not bode well for you Dali. To be confirmed on a night like this above all else." "What shall be?" Pel looked Lady Rowena and back to Lady Wisteria. Rowena sighed. "The last time it was full the Teral Wars began. I'm afraid something awful is about to begin." The three begged for Rumi to stay the night. They didn't want him outside on a night like this. The three prophetesses advised Rowena it would be better if no one went out that night. They made up a room for Rumi. Kara came to Dali. "We would like to speak with you." Dali bowed. "Of course." She and Kara went down to the room the Prophetesses were using. Zorana and Servania were waiting. Kara sat down next to Servania. "Take a seat, please." Dali sat. She looked at the three. Zorana spoke first. "Dalia, do you know of the history of the Turni?" "No." Dali looked down. "The first prophetess was a woman named Dema Demanceocha." Dali's eyes went wide. Dema? The Book of Magic? Kara spoke in her soft voice. "You've heard of her then?" Dali turned to her. "Yes." She hadn't noticed all that time. Kara was blind. "Dema was the first true prophetess. She was born in a town called Turni. Turni no longer exists. Only a shrine there in which we live. It is built over her grave." Servania spoke. "She still speaks to us. She also speaks to you." "I've had dreams, is she the one then?" Zorana spoke again. "She is. We saw it at the ceremony. You are a descendant of Dema. If you were not, she would not have come to you." Kara "We are all descended from her. That is why we see." Servania "You have the book? You should possess it now." "I do have it." Kara "We see. We have no further need to bother you." Zorana looked at her one last time. "We will watch, we cannot interfere, but we will advise." Servania stood and so did Dali. "We advise you go south first. We must also advise you keep clear of Jon'ra." "Jon'ra?" Dali did not know this name. Kara also stood. "I will walk you to your room." Dali and Kara walked upstairs. All of the curtains in the building were drawn shut. Because of the moon. "They would panic if they saw it." Dali turned to Kara. "What?" "The moon is full. It is a terrible omen. The children would panic." "I'm afraid of it too. I can feel it through the curtains." They stopped at Dali's door. Her voice was calm. "Do not fear it. It will control you." She placed her hand over Dali's eyes. "You had the look once. You can control it. You are powerful enough. Dema saw it. You are the one." Kara turned back to go to her room. "Oh Dalia, please take care of Seras." Dali looked puzzled. Another name she didn't know. "You will know in time." Dalia opened the door to her room. Pel was sitting on the bed waiting for her. "What took you so long Dali?" "The Prophetesses wanted to speak with me." "You're so popular these days." Pel looked to the floor. "Pel..." Dalia went over to her bed and sat down. Pel hugged Dalia tightly. "That moon is a bad omen Dalia. I'm afraid you might die." "I won't die Pel." I definitely won't! "It'll be alright." They hugged each other. "Dali, I'm sorry, I just don't want anything to happen to you." She smiled. "Pel, no matter what, I'll be OK."
