It started as a normal day for Mako. Special Makoto. She got up, dressed, went to the studio. Her new album was going to be released today. She had just cut her auburn hair short for the new CD. She got to the studio around 10. Her boss Arisu handed her the new CD. Looking over it Mako seemed satisfied. "Mako, so is it to your standards?" Mako nodded. Today she was feeling a little off. Her tour also started today. "Arisu, can't I just have a little time off?" Arisu raised an eyebrow. "Are you going to ask Airi the same thing?" Mako thought about her manager. Airi could be a little mean about these things. "No." Mako took the CD with her down the hall. She had to go to Airi's room. She didn't want to. Not today. She stopped at the bathroom in the hall. Mako gazed in the mirror. Usually she just threw a temper tantrum. She always got what she wanted. Airi never actually said no, she just made her feel guilty as hell. "I'm spoiled, I suppose." Mako turned back to the hall. She followed the path down to Airi's room. Again she hesitated. Why? Why? She turned back to the bathroom. The mirror seemed to call her. Her black eyes pierced the darkness. She stared for minutes before she realized the face in the mirror wasn't her reflection. A young man, maybe 20-something. He had shoulder length purple hair and purple eyes. Something evil in those eyes. "Mako." Mako eyes were wide. "Who are you?" "I'll tell you my name when you come with me." He held out his hand. Mako reached up to take it, then felt stupid. There was no way her hand would go through the mirror. She hesitated. But she decided since no one was watching, to go for it. The mirror turned to water sucking her in the second her finger brushed the surface. The next thing she knew she was laying on top of that guy. He picked her up and brushed her off. She looked around. "Where the hell am I?" The man smiled. "My name is Xellos. And you are in the palace of Xelas Metallium." "Palace?" Mako didn't think it could be that bad, a palace. He smiled. "Sleep." Mako woke up in an inn. She groggily sat up. "What now?" Xellos was still there. "Sorry about that. Beastmaster-sama would be furious if you had stayed there any longer." Mako looked confused but still shook her head. "O.K." Xellos continued to speak. "Now we have to go to Atlas City, I have a job for you." Xellos smiled. "Oh and I gave you a little gift while you were sleeping. You can do magic, as long as you're in this world anyway." Mako sighed. This certainly wasn't home. He confirmed the fact it was a new world. They headed out the door. "O.K. How do we get to Atlas City? Car? Plane?" Xellos looked puzzled this time. "What are those? We have to walk, it's only a 2 day journey." Mako looked horrified. "WALK? I don't do that! Get me a car! What is wrong with you? You drag me to this world and expect me to walk!?" The night passed rather quickly, even with all the complaining Mako was doing. Xellos already told her he was under NO circumstances, carrying her. She screamed about how she was missing her concert. "How will I get home? When will I get home?" Mako got used to it about 4 hours into it. The night was falling now, the stars were shining brightly. Xellos suggested they stop at the inn in the next town. It was very late when the two got to the inn. They had to stay in one room, luckily there were two beds. "Xellos, why are we going to Atlas City? I mean it can't be about a singing gig." "Sore wa himitsu desu! Sleep." Mako's last sight that night was Xellos' smile. When she woke up he was nowhere to be found. Instead of him she found a polearm. The long staff had a shining blade. And next to it a note. Frost Breath. Fire Blessed. "Frost breath?" The blade started shimmering. It's silver blade looked like it was burning. She reached up and quickly drew her hand back. It was so cold. It must be a magic blade. "Fire blessed." The blade went back to normal. She touched the blade, there was no evidence that it was ever cold. Mako took the pole and went downstairs. "Innkeeper, what happened to that man I came in with last night?" The innkeeper looked at her. "He left right after you went upstairs." "Oh crap!" Here she was trapped in a strange world with no one. Nothing. Well, a polearm, magic polearm, but not even a change of underwear! She headed to the dining room. She had some money, but she was certain it wasn't what they'd use here. She pulled her wallet out and found all her money changed to something else. Maybe this worlds money. She had no idea about this world. She noticed only one person sitting in the room. She made her way over. It was a man, about 28, with flaming red hair. "Excuse me?" He turned. He had bright blue eyes. "Yes?" "How do you get to Atlas City?" The man started laughing. "Atlas City?! Why, that's about a month's walk from here." Mako's heart dropped. "Oh." She turned and started making her way out. The man ran up to her. "Look, miss, my name is Aki, I've got a lot of friends around here. Go to the fountain in the middle of town, look for a woman named Shiva, she can help you find a ride or friend who's going there too. We have a lot of bandits around here." Mako was livid. Bandits... "It's safer in groups. Tell her Aki recommended you." Mako nodded. "Sure." She stepped out into the sunlight. She'd missed her concert. Crap. The fountain wasn't hard to find. She looked around but there was no one there. She asked a passing citizen, Shiva was sick. Mako sat at the fountain for two hours. She didn't know how she would go on. The only person she knew abandoned her there. Mako thought a few times about drowning herself in the fountain. She decided she couldn't. She got up and made her way out of town, not knowing which direction she should be going. She walked for what seemed like hours, probably was twenty minutes, like she knew, she didn't have a watch. She came to a little clearing in the forest. This didn't look familiar so she was pretty sure they hadn't come this way last night. In the middle of the clearing was a pale young woman. She was lying out in the open. Mako dashed off to her. "Miss? Miss?" Mako touched her hand. The girl was ice cold. She looked almost blue. Mako was sure the girl was dead. She couldn't feel a pulse, but the girl was so cold Mako didn't want to touch her long. The girl was wearing a white flowing shirt and black pants. Her hair was white as snow. "Miss?" Mako poked her in the side. The girl groaned and moved. She poked her again. "Miss?" The girl gave a slight pained smiled. She groaned again. Mako was so taken with helping the girl she didn't notice the ever closer moving bandits. The leader had a sword to her back before she noticed. "Get up!" Mako froze. She gripped the polearm. "I said, get UP!" Mako started to stand real slow. She was bringing the polearm up with her. "Please this girl is sick. Don't hurt her." The bandit laughed. "She been lyin' there for days. She has no money. But I bet you do." "I don't even have underwear! How can I have money?" The bandit looked like a dirty wheel was moving in his feeble brain. "Lessee!" He made a grab for Mako's pants. She raised the polearm and CRACK! Right over his head. He went down swift. "Anyone else want to try?" They rushed her. "Frost breath!" The polearm glowed. Mako swung it expertly. The cold emanated off of the weapon. The bandits decided they didn't want to be sliced in half by that thing and they ran off dragging their leader with them. The girl opened her eyes. They were like glass. Blue marbles. Mako watched her. She stood up and touched the freezing blade. "Hey!" It didn't phase the girl. She seemed to regain her life. She let go of the blade and smiled at Mako. "Fire blessed." Mako whispered. The cold extinguished. The girl held out her hand. "Thank you." Mako took it hesitantly, knowing how cold it was minutes before and how the girl had touched the frozen blade. Her hand was quite warm. "I'm Tinako." "Mako. What were you doing out here?" This place was getting weirder by the minute. "I was looking for someone, and came across someone else. What are you doing traveling here alone?" "This guy I was with, he just abandoned me here." "He dumped you?" "It wasn't like that, I barely knew him. We were supposed to go to Atlas City, but I have no clue about where I am or that is. I'm lost and useless." Tinako cocked her head. "I can take you. The one I was looking for was going there anyway." "You'll take me? You'll be my friend then?" She smiled slyly. "Friend..." The two of them traveled for a month together and did become friends. The trip to Atlas City was fairly uneventful. The night they arrived, they checked into a room. Then it became eventful. Mako and Tinako were sitting in the dining room eating while some people at the table next to them argued about what food to order and making fun of one of their friends. One of the four was stranger that the rest. He sat kind of in the shadows, with his hood on. Mako couldn't help staring until Tinako slapped at her arm. She had locked eyes with the stranger. It was so strange. She felt lightheaded. Then it happened. Xellos appeared sitting next to the strangers. They seemed to have no problem with him. Mako jumped up. "Xellos! How could you just leave me in that town a million miles away from this city!?" Xellos jumped. The strangers were all staring. Xellos turned. "Ah Mako." The same irritating smile on his face as when he left her in that town. "I knew you'd get here. Not as spoiled anymore I hope?" Mako gritted her teeth. "And your friend?" Xellos' smile vanished. "YOU!" Tinako sat defensively. "Xellos was the one who left you?" She glared at him. "Tinako, it's been what? 1000 years? The last time I saw you, you were on our side fighting the dragons, now you're chasing one all over the universe?" "Xellos, I should have done this years ago." She slapped at him, but missed. He reappeared next to Mako. "The only reason we're not killing you for treason is because you have the Dynast's key. If he'd known when he made you, he would not have trusted it to you." "You can't stand that you aren't the only one who can break rules and not get in trouble, Xellos. You're lucky Xelas made you so strong, everyone's afraid of you. Except me." Xellos looked pissed. He was still standing behind Mako. He placed his hands on her shoulders and whispered in her ear. "Mako, I see you've made good use of the gifts I've given you. I can't blame you for the foolish choice of friends." Mako stood fast. "Xellos. I would sell my soul to the devil to go home now. What was I to come here for?" "Devil? I can take your soul, but I can't get you home." "What are you?" Xellos disappeared. The people from the other table stared the whole time. "Tinako, what is he? What are you?" Tinako looked down. "You knew I was different the whole time. Xellos and I, we're mazoku. Demons." "Demons?" The girl from the table over came over. She offered her hand to Mako. "I'm Lina. If you want to know about demons, we've got some stories to tell." They all went up to the strangers room. Mako introduced herself and Tinako. Lina seemed a little surprised about Tinako. The strange man finally took off his hood. Mako was actually relieved he did. He wasn't as scary without it. "Now, the hierarchy of the demons are as follows: Ruby Eye Shabrinigido. He is "the devil". All the demons in this world were spawned by him. He made five generals. The strongest Phibrizzo. Whom I killed." The other three nodded. "Now the others were The Demon Dragon King: Gaav. Also deceased, thanks to me and Phibrizzo. Then Xelas Metallium, the Beastmaster. Deep Sea Dolphin, Xelas' bitter enemy. And lastly the Dynast." Tinako's eyes flashed. "Each of the five generals made a general and a priest, except Xelas. She made Xellos. He is both priest and general. The strongest mazoku next to the five Ruby Eye made. The others were all reported as dead except the Dolphin's general. I think she exists just to torment Xellos." Lina looked directly at Tinako. "All reports of the Dynast's priest and general said they were dead. Yet you are here. Are you the Priest?" Tinako nodded. "You have the keys to Ruby Eye's cell? That's why Xellos won't touch you." Again Tinako nodded. Mako was terribly confused. The demon diagram she understood, but thy keys to the cell? "The cell?" Lina looked up. "Cepheid tore Ruby Eye into seven pieces. I defeated one. But there is another in the north. The Dynast has it locked up in his palace and Tinako has been placed to guard the palace key for eternity." Tinako looked at Mako. "None will harm me. Xelas fears that Ruby Eye will not be reborn if I die and the Dolphin doesn't care. Sari has tormented Xellos over my existence for five hundred years." "Sari?" "The Dolphin's general. She's a tough one too." Lina was delighted to learn this new info. She couldn't believe that Tinako actually existed. She spent the rest of the night clinging to her, trying to learn all sorts of things. Mako got up and stepped onto the balcony. The rock man followed her out. "My name is Zelgadis. Lina never introduced anyone else." Mako smiled. "What are all of their names?" "The girl is Amelia, and that man is Gourry." "Is Lina and Gourry a couple?" Zelgadis blushed. "There are things they won't admit." Mako smiled again. Zel turned to face the railing. He looked out on the darkening horizon. "You stopped staring when I took the hood off. Am I that hideous?" Mako's concern showed on her face. "No, it's just that I thought you looked scary with it on. But you're actually kinda cute." Zel blushed a deep crimson. "Are you going out with that Amelia girl?" Zel turned as red as he was going to get. "No, but I don't hate her either. If I didn't look like this..." Mako smiled. "You do like her but you're afraid of your appearance? I don't ever have guys ask me out or even talk to me. If they get too close Airi chases them off." "At least you look good." "An idol has to look good." "Idol? Are you a god?" Mako started laughing. "Oh no! I'm a singer." Zel smiled. "Sing something." The six of them got along pretty well. Lina told everyone the next day that an old friend had a request. The kingdom of Xoana needed help. They were being terrorized by a bandit gang called Heaven's Punishers. Apparently there were two leaders and they needed help to get rid of them. For Martina, even though Lina still wanted to slap her, she would do it. Lina invited Mako and Tinako to come along. They agreed willingly. The six set out from Atlas City to Xoana. It was about a three day journey. The six had a fun time going there. The rebuilt kingdom was even more beautiful than before. Maybe they should have thanked Lina for destroying it. They went to the palace and gained an audience with the queen. Martina sat on her throne with a sixteen foot tall statue behind her. Zangulus was sitting next to her. "What the hell is that statue of?" Mako whispered. Lina smiled. Martina jumped up. "Dear friends!" She was about eight months pregnant. "Lord Zoamelgustar has certainly been kind to you Martina." Mako was confused. Zoamelgustar? Zelgadis leaned over to her. "Zoamelgustar is the demon that Martina created...it's a very long story." Mako shook her head. "I don't think I want to know." She whispered back. Martina went on discussing the bandits and the situation. All six sat with rapt attention. "We already hired one hunter, but she hasn't had any luck catching the female leader. She caught the male leader, Lark but the female...she's quite something." Lina looked at Martina. "So she's worse now that her lover has been captured? Who is the hunter?" Martina called for the hunter to be brought in. A rather sexy woman walked in. She bowed. Her boobs did a little bounce when she came back up. She wasn't one of those large tit no waist girls either. No, baby got back. "My name is Kittie." She had black-red hair and amazing gray eyes. They looked like a stormy sea. She was certainly something to behold. She had black leather boots that came up to her thighs, and leather short-shorts. Her boobs were practically hanging out of her tight red bodice. The one thing Tinako couldn't stop staring at was what she was holding in her right hand. A demon blade. A sword so rare that only three people on the planet own one and can wield it. The hilt was jet black with the Ruby Eye crest on the tip of the handle. The blade was perfectly forged and would never dull or rust. It was Kittie's. Bound to her to the death. She could never lose the sword. Kittie noticed Mako also staring at the sword. "Nice huh? It's the sword that brought Lark in. Now all we have to do is catch Reatehh." "Heaven's Punishers here we come!" Lina yelled. All seven walked out to face the bandits.
