Lights of Change (Part 1) By Minako Kou and Makoto Kou Date Started: December 30, 1997 Date Finished: January 4, 1998 Inspirational Music: "Unmei wa Utsukushiku," "Nagareboshi he," "Sailor Moon - Soundtrack," and "Sailor Moon Sailor Stars Opening Theme" Chapter 1 "What are you saying?" Mina sat dumbfounded. She obviously didn't understand what she was being told. "I'm saying that I don't want to see you anymore." "But... why?" Mina just couldn't believe that her boyfriend wanted to breakup with her. "Look, I can't tell you all the reasons why. Just believe that it is better this way." And with that he walked away. "That was horrible!" Mako had hated to hear about boyfriends dumping their girlfriends ever since her boyfriend, Freddie, dumped her in Jr. High. "I think I can deal with it though. You kept telling me to break it off with him because he was a jerk. Well, we're no longer..." Mina's voice faltered and trailed off. "Yea? Well I meant that YOU should break up with HIM, not the other way around. He probably was his normal self and just left you for another girl." "No. I know he at least told me the partial truth. He said there were reasons. Not one- like another girl." "Yea like he thinks she's willing to put out, she's a slut, et cetera." Mako put on an lofty sounding voice as she spoke the Latin words. After this, she made a face at Mina. Mina burst into hysterics. She looked up at Mako and smiled through her tears. "You know, I really did like him. But I'm actually more hurt that it wasn't love than that it wasn't him. I'll get along fine." "Sure you will! Hey, what do you say we head on over to Crown?" Mako felt that they needed a change of scenery. "Then we'll go catch lunch afterwards okay? And the first person to get one million points on the new 'Sailor V' video game has lunch bought for her!" "Your on, girlfriend!" Mina seemed to be brightening up. "Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you like that," Mina was turning into a real Usagi here lately. "That's quite alright. I actually wasn't looking where I was going either," Mina sat suddenly transfixed. She was staring up into the most gorgeous eyes she had ever seen. Not to mention that the guy they were on was a total babe. As Minako stared at this man she realized who he was. "Oh my god! How could I have not realized who you were?! When did you come back?" Mina almost started rattling off questions, but just then two more people walked up. The other guy and Mako noticed each other a stopped dead in their tracks. Mako finally spoke: "When did you strut back into our miserable lives?" Chapter 2 Mako could hardly believe her eyes! They had returned! Seiya and Yaten had come back! She suddenly felt very light headed. She cared very deeply for them. It didn't matter how they treated her before, she had finally realized how she felt about the Starlights when she intercepted Galaxia's blow for them. Mina was suddenly being picked up off the floor, at least as far as she could tell. She noticed that her head now seemed to weigh five tons. "Oh, what happened?" Mina was almost afraid to ask. "You seemed to have fainted." So, she was in Seiya's arms? "Yea! Pulled a regular Odango, you even did it just like she did too," Yaten began to laugh. "Shut up Yaten!" That sounded like Mako's voice. "Why can't I see any of you?" Mina's voice sounded scared. "Try opening your eyes, Aino Odango." "Yaten! Please go away." Mina opened her eyes. Sure enough. Seiya was holding her. He had also been the one to send away Yaten. Another thought popped into her head. She was afraid to mention it. "Uh, Seiya... where is Taiki?" "That's what we came to talk to you about. You see, Taiki's gone... No, don't get that look on your face! I'm not finished. Taiki's gone to America... with Tenshi." "Tenshi?" "Neo-Sailor Saturn." "Oh yea. I knew that," Mina was suddenly even more confused. "Hello? Earth to Mina." "Mako-chan...?" Mako looked up. Yaten stood there as if he expected something. "What do you want Yaten? Can't you see she passed out again?" Yaten looked around. He didn't understand. A moment ago his brother had been holding the conscious Mina. Now Mina was out again and his brother was nowhere to be found. "Uh, where's my brother?" "Mina took a pretty bad blow to the head when she first passed out. Probably because none of us caught her. Seiya went to get some ice." Mako looked back down at the unconscious Mina and started to giggle. Soon she broke into full laughter. Yaten was suddenly even more confused. "Huh?" "I'm sorry. I was just remember when she fell. The surprised look on your face as she just hit the ground was worth a million bucks. Ha, ha! I wish I had a picture." Yaten started to laugh too. "Or how about the look on Seiya's face," he put in. Mako started laughing even harder. All this shaking woke Mina up. She looked around. She saw Yaten and Mako laughing together. They seemed to be having a good time. She suddenly felt very happy. Or would have if she didn't have a huge headache. Seiya walked up and saw Yaten and Mako sitting on the ground laughing. Mako had Mina's head in her lap. Mina seemed to be in pain. He rushed up with the ice. "Here let me take her, before you two rupture a kidney or something." "Oh, it's okay Seiya. Yaten and I were just laughing at you. We'll stop now." Seiya had sudden apprehensions. What did Yaten tell Mako? Would their secret have made her laugh like that? No he didn't think so. Maybe he told Mako how Seiya felt about... "Seiya? Come in Seiya. You were in outer space there for a moment. What's wrong?" Mako had a worried look on her face. No, she didn't know anything, or else she would be acting differently. "Oh, nothing. I'm just worried about Mina. What with the way you were shaking her, poor thing passed out again. Maybe we should take her home." Chapter 3 All four of them were riding in Seiya's brand-new, sporty, red convertible. They were approaching a VERY BIG house. Mina stirred. "Hey, this isn't my place." Mina said. "You're quick, genius." Yaten replied. "Mina, just lie back down." Mako said. "But...but...where are we going?" Mina looked so confused. "We're going to their house." Mako told her. "Huh? Oh." Mina said. Then she passed out again. Seiya put her head back in his lap. Mako was riding up front with Yaten whom was driving. For some indescribable reason Seiya felt less protective towards his car right now. It surprised him when he chose to ride in the back with Mina. He seemed to be becoming more protective towards her at the moment. Yaten was happy that Seiya let him drive the new car. It seemed that ever since Seiya got it he wouldn't let any one else go within ten yards of it. Although he felt really uncomfortable up front with Mako. Why couldn't he have had Mako sit in back with Mina but still let Yaten drive. Yaten would never be able to feel comfortable with Mako. He just knew that she hated his guts. Mako sat in the passenger seat and stared at the beach as they drove past. She was lost in her own little dream world. She could see herself and Yaten together. She wished that Yaten liked her but she doubted he ever would. She came back to reality and looked over at Yaten. She sighed and shook her head. She wondered why she had to sit in front with Yaten. She should have been in the back with Mina. Mako didn't feel comfortable. Not around Yaten. She swore he hated her. Mina looked around. She didn't recognize where she was. All she knew was that she was in a REALLY comfortable bed. Hum, I think I could get to like it here, she thought. Then her headache came back something terrible. She shut her eyes in pain. When she finally opened them again, she looked around. The room looked very rich yet masculine. It seemed like a guy's room. It was only after she had made this very astute observation that she noticed Seiya sitting beside the bed. He was asleep in a chair. He looked worried. "Seiya?" Mina only half whispered but he woke up immediately. At first he looked around like he was confused. When his eyes came to rest on Mina, a beautiful smile graced his lips. "Glad to see that you're awake. How do you feel?" "Well, I, uh, still have a headache," he started to frown. "...but I, um, was only wondering... where am I?" "Oh. You're at my house. I figured that it was best. There was no telling what kind of shape the apartment you and Mako live in is in. Especially with the way she didn't want to go there." "So you put me up in a guest bedroom or something. Just until I get better." Mina was trying to hit upon who's room this was. She just needed to satisfy her natural curiosity. "No. Actually you're in my room. But yes, you will stay here until you get better." "Oh, no! I couldn't! I mean not in your room. Where will you sleep?" Seiya kind of blushed and looked down. "I was figuring on staying right here, until you got better." It was Mina's turn to blush. She felt as though she needed to change the subject now. "Uh, why is it taking me so long to recover? I mean, I didn't take that bad off a fall, did I?" Just then Mako walked in with a doctor following her. "Right this way, Dr. Kiren. You'll see that our patient is lying on the bed." Dr. Kiren was actually a very young man for a doctor. He looked in his early twenties, with dark brown hair and beautiful, light green eyes. Mina thought he was rather handsome. "How's did this accident occur?" He asked her. Mina told him everything he could remember. Seiya started to fill in details where she couldn't supply them. Just the Yaten walked into the room with a telephone next to his ear. "Oh yea! You should have seen it! She took one look at Seiya and was out for the count. Actually I don't think she misses you that much. Okay I'll tell everyone. Sure, I'll tell them that. Uh-huh. Oh, man, you should have been here to see it though." Everyone looked up at Yaten. He hung up the phone and walked over to everyone else. "So, you are awake Aino Odango. That was Taiki on the phone. He says that he and Tenshi were having a great time in Las Vegas, America. He also asked everyone to give him congratulations when he gets back. He and Tenshi were successfully married yesterday. Guess who else was there, and got married too!? Odango and Mamoru!" Mako suddenly got a mad look on her face. She grabbed Yaten by the arm and started dragging him from the room. "Have you no concern for other people's feelings?" She yelled at him. She said more, but it was lost to Mina as they left the room. Mina glanced over at Seiya. He looked heartbroken. She knew how much Seiya had cared for Usagi. He must have really been hurting. She didn't actually feel that bad though, because she had gotten over Taiki shortly after he left. She hadn't even seen him since his return though. Chapter 4 After Doctor Kiren left, Mina had been ordered to get more sleep from Mako. She went down to make dinner after that. Mina couldn't sleep though. Not with Seiya sitting there looking like he was only trying to stay happy for her. Mina knew how much he must be hurting right now. When the Starlights left, Usagi still didn't get that Seiya was in love with her. She was a fool. When everyone thought that the Starlights would never return, Mina told Usagi how Seiya felt about her. What no one knew, was that Mina and Seiya had discussed it, so Mina had first hand knowledge of this subject. But Usagi wouldn't believe Mina. Mina had some suspicions that Usagi felt the same way but was afraid to admit it. Now Usagi was married to the man she was "fated" to be with. Yaten could have been a little less callous when he told everyone the news. Mina was actually not as upset as everyone thought she was about Taiki. From the moment the Starlights left, Mina knew that her feelings for Taiki were always just a school-girl's crush on a teen idol. Mina looked over at Seiya. He didn't know she was looking, or he wouldn't have been doing what he was doing. He was slouching in the chair. He held something in his hand that appeared to be a picture, of, of Usagi. He had let one tear escape from his right eye. Oh, how it hurt Mina to see him pining over her like this. "Seiya," she reached over a placed a hand on his. "I know you probably want to be left alone right now. The last thing you want is to be stuck here watching me... but I, uh, you don't, hum. It's okay. I already knew how deeply you cared for her, why don't you talk to me now?" Seiya looked at her and smiled. "You know, all I needed was for her to confirm it. To show that she cared for Mamoru more than me..." "Did she even see you after you returned?" "Yes she did. At first, she reacted quite similar to you, but Taiki caught her before she fell. After that she said she had something to do and took off. I can only assume that the next thing she did was run off to America with Mamoru." "Uh, Seiya. When we, uh, thought you weren't returning, I tried to explain to Usagi how you had felt about her." Mina looked away. She felt as though she had betrayed his trust. "What was her reaction?" "Denial. She didn't want to believe me. After that it was like she was always trying to prove her love for Mamoru." "So are you saying that maybe she ran off to America because she loves me?" Seiya looked utterly perplexed. "Uh, in not so many words, yes. I'm sorry to tell you this, but I do believe it. Tenshi and Mamo-chan are good friends, right? She probably invited them to go on an extended vacation, and you know, they got caught up in 'Las Vegas.'" Seiya just sat there. He didn't have an expression on his face at all. Nothing. He was blank. Mina began to get worried. Just as Seiya looked like he was about to break and cry on her shoulder, in walked Yaten. He was yelling about what Mako was making for dinner. "She's using my caviar! Seiya go down there and stop her! That's my caviar and it ONLY gets used when I want it! Stop her!" Mina's headache was brought back by all the noise. Mina jumped out of the bed, surprising both Yaten and Seiya. She flew across the room at Yaten and slammed him up against a wall. "Do you mind? I'm trying to get some sleep in here!" She yelled in his face. He just got this weird smirk on his face. He put one hand around her back and pulled her closer. Mina felt a hot blush spread across her skin. Did she still have a crush on Yaten? Next thing Mina knew she was sitting in the bed. Somehow Yaten had gotten her there quickly and gently. He just stood there across the room and smiled. "Seiya? What are you going to do about Mako-chan?" Yaten just stared at him. Seiya sat in his chair, just as he had during the entire previous scene. He looked at Yaten out of the corner of his eye. "You're not the only one who pays for the caviar. It will be part of our dinner courses if Mako makes it so." Yaten got red in the face and stalked out of the room. Chapter 5 Mako couldn't believe Yaten. How dare he try and tell what she couldn't use for dinner! She was probably going to kill him now. She couldn't not be held responsible for happened to Yaten. Mako was seeing red. When it came to her cooking, nobody said anything or they were in for it. She was master of the kitchen! Yaten strut back into the kitchen. "I assume you went and tattled to Seiya," Mako mocked. "He says you can use the caviar," Yaten grumbled. "You're such a brat Yaten." Seiya said as he came down the stairs. He had Mina on his arm. Mako was shocked when she saw Mina. She almost started yelling and screaming at Seiya for bringing her down, but Mina recognized that look on her face and interrupted her first. "I wanted to come down." "You should be in bed resting! Mina, you need your rest! That was a nasty bump you got. I want you to go back up there and rest! Right now I said!!!" "Mako, let her be. She was the one who wanted to come down." "Seiya, she should rest!!" "Mako, I told him how much I wanted to eat your wonderful cooking with everybody!" "Sucking up to the cook hum Mina?" "Shut up Yaten!" This time Seiya was the one to slam Yaten in to a wall. "Can't you ever be nice?! Just once?" "Do you want to know the truth? No. I have to be mean; I like being mean!" Yaten snarled. "Okay fine. Have it your way. Mina and I will go back up stairs to have dinner." Mako stared as they walked off. She just couldn't believe what she had just witnessed. But then again, Yaten was involved. She should know better. Upstairs, Seiya was fuming. He couldn't understand why Yaten was always such a jerk. But this was Yaten he was talking about. Mina was surprised. Everything had occurred so fast that she wasn't quite sure what had happened. She thought that she was downstairs. Maybe she dreamed the entire thing. Right now she was just sitting in the bed as she had been before. "Uh, Seiya...?" Mina found herself hesitating. Why? "I'm so sorry Mina. I knew how much you wanted to eat a normal meal, but Yaten just never quits." Seiya wouldn't look her in the eye. So she wasn't dreaming. "Yaten, what did you do that for?" "What?" "You're such a jerk. You didn't have to be so mean. You know, you could be nice for once." "Shut up! I don't have to do anything Makoto!" Yaten yelled. Then he thought I knew she hated me. "You know Yaten, if you weren't so mean you might be able to get a date." "I'm a teen idol, remember? I could probably get a date easier than you could." "Yea but the 3 Lights retired remember? You broke the heart of every girl in Tokyo. You'd be lucky if you could get a date with Luna, now." "SHUT UP! I'm leaving." "THEN GO!" "I AM!" Mako walked into the bedroom. This surprised Seiya. He had figured that she would be downstairs cooking or fighting with Yaten. "Dinner's done. You can come down to eat. Yaten left." When they got down stairs, Seiya and Mina's jaws dropped open. There was ceramic pieces all over the floor. Seiya was more surprised than upset, but he started asking strained questions. "Well, uh you see, I uh... Yaten was pestering me. I got upset because he was criticizing my cooking technique when he said he would leave." Mako looked at the mess. "What happened to Yaten?" Seiya looked slightly concerned. "Oh! He's fine. After that first dish hit him, he took off like lightening!" Mina started to giggle. "You mean, you actually hit him with the dishes?" Seiya asked. "Only one! I swear!!" "Then why does it look like more than one dish is broken?" "Well, uh... um... he threw two back." "TWO?" Mina exclaimed. "I hit him with the pan first..." "I thought you said you only hit him once." "No, I said one dish." Mina looked angry. "So where did that jerk run off to?" "I dunno, but..." "But what?!" Both Mina and Seiya exclaimed. "...He took Seiya's car." Chapter 6 God! Why does she always nag on me? You'd think that we were married or something. Yaten couldn't believe Mako. Throwing dishes! But then again, he knew what he was getting into when he started talking about Mako's cooking. Yaten drove down the beach for awhile. All the time he kept thinking about Mako and how much he knew she hated him. "I know Yaten is not that bad of a guy sometimes, but it's like he's always trying to antagonize people on purpose! I just wish that at some point he could act normal and decent." Mako listened to Seiya's words. He was lucky he didn't hear her mutter "But then he wouldn't be Yaten," under her breath. Mina heard though. Mina wished that Yaten would keep his passion and zeal enough to stay himself, but would stop taking it out negatively on other people. Mina just knew that only a few years ago, Luna and Artemis would've sworn he was from the Negaforce. Mako started to go off into her dream world. Too bad Yaten was such a jerk. He would be a lot better looking if he weren't so mean. But throwing the dishes was a bit harsh. Why did he insult my cooking though?! That was just cruel. "Mako? Mako? Earth to Makoto!" Mina seemed to be putting a lot of energy into snapping Mako out of it. "Do you think Yaten hit her too hard? Maybe she was hit harder than we think." "Seiya, if Mako got hit then Yaten would most likely be dead." "What?! I never got hit! What?" "Oh look! Mako is alive!" Said Mina. "Hey! Welcome back! Get any good postcards from Jupiter? I just wanted to tell you that dinner is wonderful!" "Yea, that's nice," Mako mumbled. Wow! She really is out of it! She usually beams at complements on her cooking. I wonder what's up. I'll bet it has something to do with Yaten. Mina's thoughts were suddenly cut off by a terrible pain in her head. She looked up to see if anyone had noticed her flinch in pain. She figured that no one had until she suddenly felt Seiya's hand on hers under the table. She glanced up at him. He smiled. She knew he hadn't seen her flinch, so he must have just known she was in pain. Yaten suddenly burst in. He walked over to his place at the table which was still set up. He sat down and stared down at his food. "Where's my caviar?" "It was an appetizer. We are in the main course. You just missed out I guess." Mako said. Mina couldn't help but note the hint of irony in her voice. "I wanted some of my caviar." "You should have been here sooner!" "How was I supposed to know when to be here?!" "You shouldn't have left then!" "You were throwing dishes at me!" "You threw them back!" "You hit me with a pan!" "You were being a jerk!" "SHUT UP!! I HAVE THE WORST HEADACHE IN HISTORY AND YOU TWO ARE NOT HELPING!" Mina screamed. "Sorry Mina. But you shouldn't even be up. You should be in bed resting." Yaten said. "I told her she could come down." Mako said. "Why did you tell her that?" "She's my friend. Not yours." "Well she should rest!" "Leave her alone!" "SHUT UP MAKO!" "SHUT UP YOURSELF YATEN!" What Yaten and Mako didn't notice was that while they were so involved in fighting, Seiya and Mina had left and gone back up stairs. They had even finished their dinners. "Huh?" Mako finally noticed that they were gone. She walked over to where Seiya had been sitting. There was a note. It read: "When you two finish fighting and finally notice that we are gone would you please have dessert sent upstairs. Mina has a headache. Seiya" "See what you did Yaten? It's all your fault they left." "My fault? You started it!" "I did not!" "Did!" "WILL YOU TWO PLEASE STOP FIGHTING!" Seiya screamed from upstairs. "It was your fault." Mako whispered. "Was not! It was yours!" "Yours!" "STOP FIGHTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Seiya screamed. "I didn't do anything." Mako said aloud to herself. "Neither did I." Suddenly Mina was standing there in the doorway. She looked like she was about to rant and rave. "It was both of you. So shut up now. And Mako? Would you please bring pain killers with the dessert." Mina actually sounded very calm. "Yea. Right behind you." Mako said. After Mina walked away, Mako stuck her tongue out at Yaten. Then she went into the kitchen. Lucky for Mina there was a set of stairs to Seiya's floor in the kitchen. Mako grabbed a tray and put the dessert and pain killers on it. She ascended the stairs. Yaten was already up there. He stood in Mako's way. "You're such a snob Mako." "Shut up Yaten. I don't want to start another fight." "Oh come on, you know you like the fight." Mako's eye started to twitch. She walked past him. Mako knocked on Seiya's door. Chapter 7 A week later Mako and Yaten still wouldn't talk to each other. Mina was still getting dizzy spells, so Seiya insisted that she and Mako stay until Mina was completely healed. If Mako wasn't seeing things she would almost swear that Mina and Seiya were getting a lot closer. Mako knew she didn't see things too. "Seiya are you sure? I mean, we've completely disrupted your home life. Mako and Yaten never stop fighting. And you probably haven't slept well in week. Every time I see you you're awake in that chair." Mina was sitting on the edge of the bed looking at Seiya. "Of course, I'm sure. Yaten and Mako are weird, but we like having company..." "Oh yea, I'm sure Yaten enjoys it. Totally." Mina put in sarcastically. "...but I've enjoyed having you here." "Well maybe we should send Yaten or Mako away. I mean I love them both, but it would be so much quieter with Yaten gone. And besides, if Mako doesn't leave, you'll soon be out of dishes." "Yaten helped with those dishes. Actually, the dishes aren't really mine, or Yaten's, they're kind of...um...Taiki's." "Oh no, you mean Mako destroyed Taiki's dishes?!" "Y-" Suddenly they heard a crash. Seiya and Mina both ran out of the room and down the stairs. Mina's eyes grew wide. She couldn't believe what she saw. "Ha! You deserved it buddy!" Mako exclaimed. Yaten was lying on the floor. He was out cold. Broken dishes, pots and pans, and, nonetheless a shelf was all over the floor. "MAKO! WHAT DID YOU DO!?" Mina exclaimed. "But Mina, it was his own stupid fault!" Seiya just stared at Mako. Seiya blinked. "MAKO! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DID THIS!" "Me? I didn't do anything." "Mako!" "Mina, I swear. All I did was trip him." "You tripped him? That's all? So he just fell into that shelf?" "More or less. Maybe I helped him hit it... Just a little." "How little?" Seiya grumbled. "Is he alive?" "Ok, ok I confess. I shoved him into the shelf. But maybe he shouldn't have held onto it like that. Those pots wouldn't have hit him if he'd let go! He started to throw more dishes at me, so I threw him across the counter. He was going to hit me with the pans so I shoved him! Satisfied?? And yes, he is alive." Seiya and Mina just stared at Mako. Seiya spoke up first. "I can't believe you shoved him into that shelf!" "I can." Mina said quietly. Chapter 8 "I'm so sorry that we were such a trouble to you all this time! I swear we'll repay all the damages. Thank you so much for letting us stay here, Seiya." Mina was looking at the ground. She just couldn't bring herself to look at him since she realized her true feelings for him. "Don't worry about paying us back. We've got plenty of money." "Yea well, we're real sorry about the damages. We'll send over a new set of dishes as a wedding gift, before Taiki gets back." Mako looked at Yaten. He stuck out his tongue. Mako just glared back at him. "Yaten, could you please drive Mako back to their house in your car. I wanted to talk to Mina alone. I'll drive her home. Don't worry Mako. She'll be right behind you." Seiya just looked at Yaten and Mako with a look on his face that said "NO fighting!" Mako and Yaten just walked over to the car quietly. Mina watched them walk away. She was curious as to what Seiya wanted to say to her. Suddenly she was remembering an event only a few days back. Mina was trying to walk down the stairs. Seiya was of course by her side. It seemed that he hadn't left it during the last two weeks. Mina also couldn't understand why it was taking her so long to recover. She was still having dizzy spells, so Seiya was helping her down the stairs. Suddenly Mina felt herself falling. It was only a few steps to the next landing but she was going fast and taking Seiya with her. Seiya threw himself under her to soften her landing. He landed on his back with Mina laying on top of him. Mina suddenly blushed. Seiya stared into Mina's eyes. They were both captivated. Mina didn't realize that her head was sinking. Next thing she knew, she was kissing Seiya and wasn't to unhappy with it. Suddenly Yaten popped out of the shadows. He was yelling something about "Aino Odango" and seeing "everything." Then next thing Mina knew, Mako also came out of the shadows. But she didn't see what was going on with Seiya and Mina. She snuck up behind Yaten with a wicked look on her face. Then Mina saw the frying pan in her hand. Mina stood up as Yaten fell down. It was then that Mako noticed her. "Oh, hi Mina!" Then she notice Seiya on the floor. "Seiya! I just vacuumed there. Get up!" He blushed and stood up. "Sorry." Then he helped Mina the rest of the way downstairs. Mina was suddenly back in the present. Mako now knew what had happened because Mina had discussed it with her. But Mina hadn't been able to say anything to Seiya with out looking away these last few days. Mako glared at Yaten. "I don't see why I have to ride with you. You'll probably get us killed." "Mako you couldn't drive if your life depended on it." "I can drive better than you!" "NOT!" "Then let me drive." "It's my car!" "So?" "You can't drive my car!" "Why don't we see about that!" "Stoppit Mako!" Yaten looked almost like he was going to slap her. She looked at Yaten and started to cry. "You are so mean Yaten!" He stopped. "I-I'm sorry." Mako stared out the window. I wish he wasn't so mean. Yaten looked over at Mako. I wish she didn't have to start these fights all the time. But then where would I find my entertainment? She could be right though; I don't really have to be so mean. Neither of them said anything the rest of the way to her home. Mina looked up at Seiya. He looked away. Mina and Seiya were sitting in Seiya's car. He had parked by the beach. "Mina we need to talk... about what happened the other day." "Seiya, I, um, I'm sorry about that! I shouldn't have... ah..." Mina fumbled her words. "No! It was my fault. I'm the one who is sorry. I shouldn't have kissed you." "Oh!" Mina was surprised at his words. If he was the one who kissed her, then she couldn't say that he needed to apologize. "I... I... know that you don't, uh feel... uh..." Seiya trailed off. Mina didn't understand what he was saying. "That I don't-what Seiya? I don't quite follow," Mina needed to get a few things straight. "That you don't like me in that way..." "Who ever said that? Did I say that I didn't care for you?" Mina looked him in the eye. She also placed her hand under his chin so he couldn't turn away. "Seiya, over the last two weeks or so, you've been by my side every moment. You've helped me with everything. You supported me and helped me to do the things I couldn't. You've shown such care and affection that I couldn't help but fall in love with you." Seiya kept looking her in the eye. Slowly a tear or two came to his eyes. Mina watched as he began to cry. Seiya whispered the words "I love you too." Mina began to cry as well. Mako was mad a Yaten, but she felt that she shouldn't send him directly home without letting him in for awhile. "Do you want to come in and get something to drink? I could get you a cup of coffee or something." Mako decided that even if Yaten hated her, she should try to be nice. Who knew, maybe some of it would rub off. Then again, this was Yaten she was talking about. "Sure," He said in an off-hand way. Then he followed her into the house. "I wonder what's taking Seiya and Mina so long," Yaten said sarcastically. "Seiya said they'd be right behind us." "Yaten you're so mean when it comes to other people's feelings. You saw what happened only a few days ago. You know how they feel about each other. That was probably what they needed to discuss." Mako gave Yaten a look that made him be quiet about it. He had really been acting pretty descent since the incident in the car. Right then Seiya and Mina walked in the door. They were holding hands and both were smiling. Mako saw them and knew that they had sorted things out properly. She smiled at them, and Mina slightly shook her head as if to say "Yes, my dreams have come true!" "Uh, Mako, I'd better be going home now. I'll see you at home Seiya. 'Bye Aino Odango!" "Yaten!" Mina yelled to him. "Huh?" He stopped in the doorway. "Are you really leaving so soon?" "Oh. Yea, some one should really be at the house to greet-oh! I didn't tell you! Taiki and Tenshi, and Mamoru and Usagi are returning tonight! Gotta run!" Chapter 9 Yaten and Seiya were sitting at home watching television and waiting for Taiki to return. "So, Seiya. Did you kiss Mina goodbye?" Yaten snickered. "Shut up Yaten. So, Taiki and Tenshi decided to return from their honeymoon early?" Seiya was curious as to why. He also wondered if and how long Yaten knew. "Don't forget Mamoru and beautiful Usagi!" Yaten laughed at Seiya. "You know Yaten, sometimes you can be a real jerk." "Sometimes? With the way people keep telling me that lately, I thought it was all the time." "That too." Seiya grumbled. Just then Taiki walked in carrying his new bride over the thresh-hold. Good thing he had gotten Mina out today. Who knows how she would've reacted to that. Probably the same way Seiya will react to seeing Usagi as a married woman. I guess Mako won't get those dishes replaced on time, he thought. But low and behold. Right then up pulled a delivery truck. Several boxes that said "Fragile" were carried into the house. "What's this? Our first wedding gift, Tenshi. The tag says: 'To the happy new couple from Mako, Yaten, Mina and Seiya.'" Taiki looked up at Seiya and smiled. "Hum. I wonder what it could be," Tenshi said. "Why, it's dinnerware. But I already have a fine set of dinnerware." "Not anymore." Yaten muttered. "What?" "Well you see, since Mako-chan kept throwing-" Seiya slapped his hand over Yaten's mouth. "Just trust us. You need it," Seiya finished for him. "So you went and saw Mina and Mako," Tenshi said. "How were they?" "Actually, they ended up staying with us for two weeks or so." "What? Why?" Taiki was suddenly very curious. "Well you see, it all started when we went into Crown. Mina-chan was so surprised to see Seiya..." "Usagi! You're back!" Mako looked very happy to see her. She probably just needed to talk to someone other than Yaten, Mina thought. "And look at you! A married woman! Well who would've guessed?" Mina didn't even think about her words until after she said them. Actually, everyone would've guessed. Everyone knew that one day she would be married to Mamo-chan. Mina blushed at her own folly. The other two started laughing. Mina joined in. "Well, I just wanted to stop by and say hello. Mamo-chan's waiting out in the car. We just wanted to drop off your gifts," Usagi gushed. "What?! You got us gifts? I feel horrible! We haven't even gotten your wedding gift yet," Mako looked like she was about to throw a fit, but Mina knew that she was lying. When they had gone out to order the dishes for Taiki, Mako had remembered about Mamo-san and Usagi-chan. They found something perfect and had it delivered to Mamoru's apartment. It would be waiting there for the happy couple when they arrived. "Oh, that's okay. We didn't even tell anybody we got married. Other than Taiki and Tenshi of course." "Well, um, Taiki kind of told Yaten, and, uh, you know how big of a mouth he has," Mako told her. "So... Seiya knows?" Usagi asked. Mina looked away. She couldn't bring herself to look her in the eye about this subject. Mako just shook her head. For a moment thereafter Usagi looked off into space, like she was deep in thought. "Uh, Usagi? Maybe you should go tell Mamoru-Kun to come in here. I mean, he shouldn't sit out in the car," Mina was trying to change the subject. "Huh? Oh yea." She walked outside to talk with him. In a minute she came back. "He said that he would just wait, but that if I took too long visiting, he would come in and tell me before he left. He said he had someplace to run to, before he takes me home. He actually said that he would prefer it if you, Mako, would give me a ride home, in about half an hour." "Why that-!" Mako was stopped by Usagi's hand on her clenched fist. "He says he has a surprise planned for me," Usagi had a grin on her face. "You know how much I love surprises. I don't want to spoil his fun either." Okay, Mako thought. If Mamo-chan wants to surprise his bride then so be it. Just then something jumped out of the shadows. It was a Youma! "Where did that thing come from? I thought we had no more enemies!" Mako screamed. Mina watched as this thing came at the group. She was in shock, and she thought that her reflexes must have been slowed by the fall, or would have if her thought processes weren't slowed also. Usagi tried to run away by, running off, but the thing just followed her. It was like the thing knew who she was. Mina could've sworn she heard it say "Sailor Moon!" "HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPPP MMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!" (End of Part 1)
