| Early stalwarts of the revered and insanely collectable German label TESCO Organisation, Anenzephalia became known in 1991 with the spectacular limited single ‘Lyse’, which came with a handwritten death certificate and random medical objects (such as scalpel, forceps and razors) attached to its LP sized packaging. Closely associated with TESCO figureheads Genocide Organ, with whom they share members, Anenzephalia are nevertheless notorious in their own right for their uncompromisingly oppressive records and shatteringly intense live performances. |  |

| Named after a macabre birth defect whereby foetuses are born without brains, dying immediately their grotesquely deformed bodies leave the womb, they use this depressing image as a symbol of hopelessly doomed humanity as a whole. Working in the crushingly atmospheric style of more complex and sophisticated power electronics often called ‘heavy electronics’, they blow the listener away with a barrage of thunderous subterranean rhythms, grinding layers of noise and harsh, cruel vocals. | ||
