    Hours

The Neveu Family Petting Zoo is open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Months that start with even numbers.

    ... Just kidding.

    The Residents

Kelle has this thing about animals. I don't know what it is but she just has to have a lot of pets. I don't think that there is anything wrong with that (and I'm not just saying that because she is my wife). She just needs to "help".

Anyway, it all started long long ago in a galaxy far far away ... too long ago and far away for me to even start putting it all here ... so, I'm just going to jump right to the creatures that live here. You can click on the menu link just to the left OR you can scroll down. Some of the creatures that live here are important enough to have there own page. Happy hunting and here we go.

    Buddy

One day, Kelle was out in the garden and the kids a couple of doors down came over and decided to play a joke on me. They gave Kelle a baby snapping turtle. Why is this a joke? I'm going to tell you ...

About 10 years ago, Kelle had another snapping turtle, his name was Tutor (he has no page on this site, suffice it to say that he was just mean). Anyway, Tutor was an old snapper, not really old, but definitely grown up. He probably weighed about 8 pounds ... He was a big turtle that would just as soon eat your fingers as he was to look at you.

One day, he forced the top off of his tank and got out. Here's the joke (it really isn't very funny). The side of the tank that he escaped from faced away from the bed. If he would have climbed out the other side, he would have eaten our toes because the tank was butt right up against bed. Whew! That could have ended bad. Not long after that we let the turtle go where Kelle found him. A place called Maple Lake. As far as I know, he resides there to this day.

I guess it was an inside joke.

I'm not sure where the kids found this little guy, but, we live near a lake now and he could very well have come from there.

He's been with us since August 2000.

    Pip and Pop

Named after characters of the same name on Bear in the Big Blue House, These two little chaps are always together. They were found together and they appear to be happy with each other.

Right now they share a tank and are probably going to move out to the pond when the weather gets better. They trash their tank up pretty quickly, I'd like to get them out of the house. These guys were found at the local pond as well. Someday, we'll put them back.

    Frogs

Frogs are special to Kelle. She thinks that they are cute. She's pretty much converted Katie from being a normal girl who's terrified of bugs and frogs (what are you going to do). Anyway, we have a 75 gallon fish tank in the living room which has been turned into a terrarium. We also have a pond in the front yard (150 gallons, what can I say, I have a small yard). The frogs that live outside stay outside all year long. That's pretty cool, I don't have to worry about those guys.
