The Anime
The phrase Hana Yori Dango, basically translates to "Dumplings Before Flowers".  However, as the kanji word for dumplings can also be boys, the creator, Kamio Youko, has cleverly used it to read "Boys Before Flowers".

The anime is comprised of 51 episodes.
Sachi's Distribution took over fan-subbing the series, all twelve volumes are now complete!

The anime series finished airing in 1997.  The anime  follows pretty much follows the manga, but since the manga is still in production, the anime was given it's own ending.

The anime series offers a unique illustration style. The colouring is very mellow, as   they used a muted palette of water colours.  The backgrounds are also very soft.    Some reviews have stated that this takes away from the series, but in my own opinion, I feel it intensifies the beauty and realism of it.

The storyline is one that takes the viewer on an emotion roller-coaster ride.  It has a lot of action, drama, romance and a ton of comedy.  It reflects life in the real world, where no matter what your background is, everyone has the same struggles in life.
