TRENDS AND MAKEUP PICKS
I really do love makeup.  Funny, you’ll hardly ever see me wearing it but I love playing with it and using it to enhance others.  I used to wear it all the time until I became a makeup artist.  I think I got too lazy to wear it or something because I can’t remember when I stopped wearing it.  But I love makeup.  The colors, the textures, the smell.  I think it all goes back to when you were a kid; dipping your fingers into your moms makeup for the first time.  I remember drawing Raggety Ann blush cheeks on myself and thinking how neat it was.  That’s the fun of makeup - experimentation and discovery.

Since I work with some big guys, I get access to the season trends and colors ahead of time.   These are the trends and colors seen on the runways and forecasted by color companies.  I check out the new colors and products from the makeup companies to see what’s new and exciting.  Keeps me current as a makeup artist.

CHANEL - PARIS
Lumiere Platine & Duo Spectral Gemstones (Limited Edition)
Each season Chanel introduces limited edition collections and they always fly right out the door.  The color for the millennium is silver and keeping with that trend Chanel introduces it's Star product in it's Fall Limited Edition Lumiere Platine.  This Platinum Face Powder is a subtle shimmer of silver and highlights the face and body.

Keeping with the silver theme Chanel has developed the limited edition Duo Spectral Gemstones.  The eye formula is a cream to powder formula that can be use anywhere on the face.  The Lip formula can be used on the lips bare or as a highlight.  So many possibilities...

CLINIQUE
Hair Care System - Defined Curl Enhancer & Extra Body Volumizing Spray
Clinique has done it - they have introduced their Hair Care System.  Packaging is sleek and product line is streamlined into 11 products and are formulated with ingrediants like Green Tea, Soy Protein, Panthenol and Vitamin E.  I can't talk about all of them but summary is that the products smell great and best of all they work pretty well.

IMAN
Eye Kit
Bold colors is what I like the most about Iman's revamped Makeup line.  Check out the Iman's Eye Kit. Nine interesting wet/dry colors in small dime shaped dots that fit into any makeup kit.  I appreciate the portability of this kit and love the range of fun and intense colors.  You're gonna have a lot of fun with this.

KEIHL'S
Ultra Facial Moisturizer
This product is a life saver if you have many faces to prep and not a lot of time to do it in.  Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer is just about the fastest absorbed moisturizer there is.  It absorbs almost instantaneously so you can start the face immediately.  It leaves behind the perfect amount of moisture, not greasy and with no fragrance.

Liquid Liner
Liquid Liner is in an inkwell  with a precision brush and my favorite color this season is Stiletto.  The deepest purple infused with jet black and the faintest suggestion of gold.  Clubbing goes underground with this color and you'll know when you see it that you have to have this color.

LAURA MERCIER
Lip Color
The greatest pretender of all is a good sheer lip color to plump up the lips for a healthy "naked" look.   Don¹t judge it when you roll it out of the tube, Pomegranate is an excellent shade for Asian lips with it's slightly pinkish hue.  Lust is new in the Mercier's line-up - a  rich burgundy shade with a creamy consistency suitable for skin tones up to fair black skin for the fall season

Makeup Kit - Lust for Life
If you want all of Nars in a nice, neat package look no further than
Nars Makeup Kit.  A slim all-in-all makeup kit which has 3 eye shadows, 2 blushes and 3 lipstick colors.  It doesn't include brushes but it is slim enough to use as a quick on-set kit for touch ups.

PHILOSOPHY
Supernatural Fingerpaints
I must admit that I really enjoy the whole Philosophy "thing".
They have kicky packaging with their "philosophy" of makeup printed on the boxes.   New for fall is Philosophy's Supernatural Fingerpaints.  It consists of a 3 cream color wheel and a lip lacquer. Philosophy takes the concept of holographic illusion and puts it literally at your fingertips.  Creamy shimmery texture that layers for a multitude of irradescent shades from sheer to bold.  The conclusion is color that can be worn by the lightest to darkest skin tone.
When you have finished playing with your color wheel, take out the lip lacquer and add another dimension of gloss to your lips.  The Supernatural Fingerpaints come in 3 palettes but I really think they need to make more!

PRESCRIPTIVES
Luxe Soft Glow Moisture Makeup
Did you ever wish your skin could look the way it does in candlelight all the time?  That is the claim of Prescriptives newest foundation - Luxe Soft Glow Moisture Makeup.   It works best on good skin and has golden undertones that will flatter most complexions.  It warms the skin and projects a youthful, dewy skin.  Feels great on the skin, very moist and has a very nice smell.   It gives a very soft look to the skin, almost bare with only energizing moisturizer.  Since it is available in 27 shades, there will be no problem finding a match.
 

SHU UEMURA
Foundation Base Control
As a makeup artist there is nothing more frustrating than being unable to match a skin tone.  Now you can eliminate that fear with Shu Uemura Foundation Base Control.  Base Control is a concentrated liquid pigment that adjusts foundation colors when finding that right color seems impossible.  You'll have to remember art class and how certain colors tones or neutralize other colors (remember that big color wheel?) You can also mix with moisturizer as a pre-color corrector.
Just remember that you don't need much, add as required.  If you really want to get creative you can layer with foundation for dramatic makeup.  Comes in white, pearl, purple, blue, green, yellow and T red.

STILA
Eye Gloss
If the name "Eye Gloss" stirs images of lip gloss for the eye then those guys  who name these products are doing their job right.  That's exactly what it is, smooth glossy color that would make any lip gloss jealous!
Glides right out of the square tin pan with ease and the creamy texture is wonderful.  Fun colors which can be blended and layered with your fingers for color that you control.

ANNA SUI
Eye Color
If there is a part of you that despises conformity you will want to look into Anna Sui's Eye Shadows.  Intensely pigmented shades you wouldn't think to put on your eyes like orange and red make for interesting palette.
Her packaging is distinctly Chinese and definitely something you would expect on an Empress's powder table.
