Creating Your Own Powders
There are, generally speaking, two types of magickal working � those designed to honor divinity and those designed to bring about a change in your life. The same holds true for creating magickal powders. They may be created simply to honor a deity, holiday, or other event, or they may be created to create change such as banishing unwanted habits, attaining prosperity, or any other use you can dream up. In creating magickal powders you are only limited by your own imagination!
Learning to perform any act of magick is simple. It is really a process of rediscovering what your spirit already knows. The more you work with magick, the more attuned to it you will become. You will become more comfortable substituting ingredients and writing your own spells, rituals and recipes. In time, you will use books like this one as a suggestion � a starting place for designing your own unique creations � rather than as a set of hard and fast rules.
When you begin designing your own magickal powders, I suggest you begin by asking yourself this simple set of questions:
1 � What is the purpose of this powder? Will it be a powder to create change or a powder to honor a certain deity, holiday, or event?
2 � How much powder would you like to make? A small handful or enough for a whole coven?
3 � What ingredients do you have on hand? Confetti? Glitter? Herbs? Essential Oils? Do you have enough of these ingredients to make the amount of powder you specified?
4 � Do you need to purchase any extra ingredients before you begin? Will these ingredients have to be special ordered or can you buy them locally?
5 � Do you want to add a �signature� ingredient? Your own personal powder? A special herb? A special glitter or confetti?
6 � Is it important that your powder be created during a certain phase of the moon? On a specific Sabbat? On a special day of the week?
7 � Would you like your powder to be empowered by a certain spell, charm or ritual? Do you need to write this spell, charm, or ritual before you begin?
Although the act of creating magick may be as simple or as complex as you desire, following these questions will help you to focus on the task at hand. Where before you may have had a general idea of what you wanted to accomplish � a powder to help attract new love into your life � you now have a plan of action. You know that you have enough of all the needed ingredients, you have found or written the perfect spell to accomplish your goal, and you have realized that you will be creating your powder on the eve of the full moon.
