THE YUKON TERRITORIESVIA Thank You Ron Robinson for this photo
Winding in and winding out. Fills my mind with serious doubt As to whether the lout Who built this route Was going to hell or coming out. I fell in love with the Yukon way back in 1977. The highway was exactly as described in the poem above. It has since then, however, been straightened out and hard-topped most of the way. But, the magnetism of those mountains still draws a person into the past. "Her splendour weaves a delicate spell which enchants my soul, holding that part of me here forever."A part of me remains in the Yukon and forever tugs at my inner being, calling me back into its fold. The fiction novel that will soon be taken off the back shelf and completed has its background in this area. When I chose the graphics for my pages, I had included in the title the name of the site where each was found. Do not ask me why, but when I changed the names to correspond with the page I wanted to place them, I shortened the names as well. Please be patient while I surf the NET to relocate each site so that I may give credit where credit is due.
It was the spell of the Yukon that kept many who came for the goldrush era from returning to their homeland. Someday I will return.
Click on this photo of the Yukon Flats, which belongs to a collection at this site. The night sky has always held a fascination for me. Many a sprained ankle (laugh)occurred from looking up when walking in the land famous for its potholes.(sigh)
