FRIENDS SCORES IN PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS
Friends, the hit comedy from NBC, was chosen as best TV Comedy at the People's Choice Awards.  The show has had a record season, raking in their highest ratings ever.  The reason, says producer David Crane, is that Friends has matured and grown over the last year.  "Our storyline is one many people can relate to" explains Crane.  "A single mother in this millenium is more common than ever, and we attribute our high ratings to this storyline."  Crane also credits the cast and crew.  "This may be our final year.  It will suck to see it end" he laughs "but it's time to move on.  Eight hit seasons is nothing to scoff at."  Although he and co-producers Marta Kauffman and Kevin Bright are talking about finishing, some sources say Friends may still go on.  Contract negotiations are underway and we may see a new side of the show if there is a ninth season.  "A child permanently on the show will alter the ambiance, but with writers and producers like the ones working on Friends, it could go quite well" says Paul Andrews of TV Guide.  "I just hope this isn't the end.  I love the show!" he chuckles.  Jennifer Aniston also won a People's Choice award for best TV Actress.  Friends is also nominated for a Golden Globe.
