Makala Weyr is an offline Weyr. :) That means that everything is hardcopy, and you get stuff in your actual, real-life mailbox. Isn't that too cool? Mail always makes me feel special. But, since we do have an off-line policy set, there are certain requirements we have for stories, artwork, and poetry submitted to the club. Curious as to what these are? Good. :) Read on. |

Stories
Stories vs. Scenes Okay, so it sounds like a bad Stallone movie, I know. But there is a major difference between the two. A story has a beginning, a middle, and an end (how many of you took an English class? <g> Remember that rising action, climax, falling action stuff? It works. Promise). A story tells something fun about your character - even if its as mundane as how hard it is to lace up those stupid, stupid sandals! - while a scene says, "Look at how hard it is to tie up those stupid sandals". Blah!
Le Stories Look at that...mock French... :) When sending in a story to the editors, make sure that you've got to following format on the story itself:
Title Date Location Author
Wanna know how that would look? It'd look a little something like this...
First Impressions 1047.01.01 Makala Weyr Cheyenne Dreyer
Then, save your story in .rtf (rich text format) and send it to the editors. :) If your computer doesn't have the capability to save in .rtf, save it as a text file (.txt) and use the following conversions:
** ** - Human Thought [[ ]] - Human to Dragon Speech {{ }} - Dragon to Human/Dragon to Dragon Speech ~~ ~~ - firelizard thoughts/images
Our magnificent editors will be able to spot these and then change it to the proper format for our lovely 'zines!
Artwork
Aaaah...artwork. The stuff our layout editor thrives on. :) We've got a few little critereon for your artwork, although we hate to limit your creative abilities. Please make sure they're black and white, since we don't have the money to print out color 'zines and color doesn't copy well, preferably done in black ink. If you've got a scanner, wonderful! Send it on to Dani in .gif or .jpeg format. If you don't have a scanner, well, contact Dani anyway and she'll tell you what to do about it. :)
