The country is witnessing a weekly strike call by the Leader of the Opposition. Normally, a few days before the strike, the Government gets into motion and the PTV and the press is full of the governmental hyperbole castigating the opposition for messing up the country. This is followed by widespread arrests of the opposition workers. The PTV Khabarnama, on the evening of the strike day, telecasts a few days old film clip showing everything in this land is hunky-dory and that the people have in totality rejected the call of the mis-guided opposition. The leader of the opposition, of course, gloats over the achievements of the strike call and how the valiant Awam has rejected the Government and its policies. As a denizen of this motherland, as an industrialist, and as a family man I would like to offer my salutations to the Leader of the opposition for his weekly calls. Thank You Nawaz Sharif (TUNS)!
- TUNS for giving me the opportunity to stay home with my family and to eat home all three meals in the comfort of my house and in the company of my wife and children.
- TUNS for giving me the opportunity to tell my workers to stay home too and not worry about production on that day which is, anyway, going to be sold on long-term credit and at a discount.
- TUNS for giving me the opportunity to also celebrate the "Cleanliness Week" at my home too by getting rid of all the junk that had accumulated all this time and for which I had no time from my multifarious activities.
- TUNS for giving me the opportunity to have the whole day without load shedding since the factories were not working as well as the staff of KESC was at home too.
- TUNS for giving me the opportunity to pay the interest on the overdraft and the fixed charges of KESC even though the factory was idle due to your decision.
- TUNS for giving me the opportunity to read all the back issues of TIME magazine which I normally read during my frequent trips away from home.
- TUNS for giving me the opportunity to watch the Orwellian scenarios presented by the Johnny’s in the PTV hierarchy every time the strike call is given.
- TUNS for giving me the opportunity to stop believing in the honorable democratic system in this country because selfish leaders are bringing the country to a halt because they are not in the driving seat.
- TUNS for giving me the opportunity to contemplate the future of this motherland under your regime if you ever become the helmsman again.
- TUNS for giving me the opportunity to leave everything aside and pray to Almighty Allah to deliver this country from self-seekers, from corrupt politicians, from ego-maniacs, and from those who are out to destroy the country of Punjabis, Sindhis, Pakhtuns, Balochis, Kashmiris, and Mohajirs, the land called Pakistan, just for their own pound of flesh. TUNS!
Sincerely:
