SUB: SMUGGLED GOODS
It is with satisfaction that we read about the steps taken by the Customs Authorities to burn drugs captured from smugglers and also to demolish over 21000 bottles of booze. This is what is required for those consumer goods which have been captured or confiscated.
The Customs Authorities should start off by burning all fabrics that have been smuggled into this country. At present, the captured goods find their way legally into the market. This has a very negative impact on local goods. One can see imported goods now being sold from the trunks of cars stationed all over the city. The menace of smuggling of foreign goods can only be curbed if they are not sold by the Customs Authorities.
We also wish to point out that strict checking of habitual couriers (Khepias), especially if they are coming from Dubai or Far East be introduced. The Customs personnel should consider this as their sacred and patriotic duty to save this country from disaster. The CBR should also initiate a program where these dedicated customs people get awards and promotions for nabbing the
NATION-DESTRUCTORS (smugglers). More appropriately, the Prime Minister should personally sign commendation certificates for these customs personnel. Their names should also be publicized in the newspapers. Furthermore the person catching the highest number of couriers etc. should be given a medal at the investiture ceremonies held at the Presidency on national days. We, therefore, request the CBR Chairman to introduce the incineration and destruction processes for captured or confiscated smuggled goods.
Sincerely:
SATTAR TEXANA
