CIA RECRUITS

This is with reference to the news item "CIA to recruit new agents" published in the Dec. 09 issue. According to your correspondent, the CIA will soon be recruiting new agents from outside the traditional diplomatic cadre and that "there is good news for all those in Pakistan and the Third World . . . " with regard to appointment of CIA agents.

Therefore, IF there is a CIA "outpost" here in Pakistan and IF it is planning to recruit Pakistanis, one would like to find out such information as:

  • Would it the same as applying for visas?
  • What kind of background should the person have?
  • What is the pay scale ? Is it month-wise or case-wise?
  • Would the selected candidates go to Langley for training or would it be local-based?
  • Would they be entitled to US passports or a green card?
  • Would they be based in Pakistan or posted overseas?
  • Would the domestic intelligence agencies be given information about them?
  • What protection would they get if their names are leaked out by a "mole"?

If there is someone who can answer these, please do so without using any secret code!

Sincerely :

MIKE BAXTER
