most unexpected persons on the podium was MA
John. Not connected to any group so far, and not
involved in any 'arm chair' politics for a long
time, MA John was away from the normal political
stream except for his outright comments on many
issues. John is
seen on the picture to the right. Many wonder if
MA John is going to be active again; after a span
of almost three decades!

the Thrissur Convention, Leader K Karunakaran
scored a major victory by bringing in the old
party ideologue MA John to present the draft
economic resolution of the new party.

The new party
would work for a secular alliance with the
support of the Left against communal forces. The
resolutions also talk of a series of left -- of
-- the -- centre measures to revamp Kerala
economy. It also promises job would to at least
one member of each family.
Congress leader
MA John, who claims of being the mentor
of top leaders like former chief minister AK
Antony and Chief minister Oommen Chandy, has
extended his full support to the new party.
Despite a mass
exodus of leaders from his camp, Karunakaran made
his intentions to split the party clear and his
lieutenants say majority of ordinary workers are
with him.
