One of the most unexpected persons on the podium was MA John. Not connected to any group so far, and not involved in any 'arm chair' politics for a long time, MA John was away from the normal political stream except for his outright comments on many issues.

John is seen on the picture to the right. Many wonder if MA John is going to be active again; after a span of almost three decades!

Thatsmalayalam.com says Though most of the hangers-on dumped him on the way to the Thrissur Convention, Leader K Karunakaran scored a major victory by bringing in the old party ideologue MA John to present the draft economic resolution of the new party.

The new party would work for a secular alliance with the support of the Left against communal forces. The resolutions also talk of a series of left -- of -- the -- centre measures to revamp Kerala economy. It also promises job would to at least one member of each family.

Congress leader MA John, who claims of being the mentor of top leaders like former chief minister AK Antony and Chief minister Oommen Chandy, has extended his full support to the new party.

Despite a mass exodus of leaders from his camp, Karunakaran made his intentions to split the party clear and his lieutenants say majority of ordinary workers are with him.
