Character Guide
This character list is of all of the main or most important characters in my opinion. If you feel there are other important characters I have left out, e-mail me and I will add them.
Son Goku
Species: Saya-jin
From: DB, DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Goku is the most important character in all three of the series�. We watch him grow for a boy to a grown man, then back into a little boy again. As the show progresses from DB to DBZ to DB: GT we watch his power grow tremendously to save the world time and time again.
Chi Chi
Species: Human
From: DB, DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Chi Chi is Goku�s wife and mother to two of his sons. Goku meets her as a child, where she is a decent fighter. He promises to marry her as a child because he thinks marriage is some type of food. Most of the time she is a real bitch who would rather have Gohan studying than save the world (she actually says this). But in truth she really is a good mother.
Gohan
Species: Half Saya-jin, half human
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Gohan is the son of Chi Chi and Goku. At first he is a little bookworm, because his mother always makes him study, but he becomes one of the strongest beings in the universe. The key to his strength is his anger. During the fight with Raditz he temporarily becomes stronger than Goku and Piccolo, and during the Cell saga, the death of Android 16 sends him into SSJ2. He could have become stronger than Goku but he stopped his training, because there was no need to train. He marries Mr. Satan�s daughter Videl and they have a baby named Pan.
Goten
Species: Half Saya-jin, Half Human
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Goten is Goku and Chi Chi�s second son. He is extremely powerful like his brother and father and has the ability turn SSJ by the age of 7. He looks exactly like Goku did as a child. Goten is best friends with Trunks and the fuse to make Gotenks.
Ox King
Species: Human
From: DB, DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Ox king is Chi Chi�s father, and he is a giant man. He is always at Chi Chi�s house and loves to spend time with his grandchildren.
Videl
Species: Human
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Videl is Gohan girlfriend who he later marries. She is daughter to Mr. Satan and one half of the great Saya-jin man team (Gohan is Saya-jin man 1 and Videl is Saya-jin man 2). She is a decent fighter and learns to fly from Gohan. She and Gohan Have a baby named Pan.
Pan
Species: one-quarter Saya-jin, three quarters human
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Pan is a great fighter (she even defeats Goten at the last Tenkaichi Budoukai tournament. For some reason the less Saya-jin you have in you the stronger you seem to be). She is only introduced near the end of dbz but is one of the main characters of db: gt.
Vegita
Species: Saya-jin
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Vegita is the second strongest character in all of dbz and db: gt. He is horribly jealous of �Kakarot� because a low level soldier has a higher power than his, and can become Super Saya-jin before him. This jealousy causes him to train at 400x gravity during the android saga. To become stronger than Goku, but it doesn�t work. Vegita lives with Bulma and they have two children (Trunks and Bra.) Vegita finally becomes a full-fledged good guy at the end of the Buu saga.
Bulma
Species: Human
From: DB, DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Bulma is the first character introduced ever, in DB. She and Goku meet when she hits him with her car. She decides to keep Goku with her because he is so strong (Power level 10). In dbz she is a genius and she and her father help the z fighters with lots of inventions.
Trunks
Species: Half Saya-jin, Half human
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Chibi Trunks and future Trunks are one of the most powerful Saya-jin. Trunks learned to turn Super Saya-jin at the age of 8 (one year later than Goten), and he carries a powerful sword called the Sword of Tapion (which he gets in movie 13). He is best friends with Goten and they fuse into the very powerful Gotenks (the only other character able to turn SSJ3 besides Goku).
Bra
Species: Half human, half Saya-jin
From: DB: GT
Description: I don�t know much about Bra except that she is Bulma and Vegeta�s daughter and that she looks like Bulma.
Dr. Briefs
Species: Human
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Dr. Briefs is a genius that resembles an older version of Trunks. He helps the Z warriors with lots of inventions (space capsules, training rooms etc.). He and his wife, live with Bulma and Vegeta.
Muten (master) Roshi
Species: Human
From: DB, DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Master Roshi is a dirty old perverted man, but is a good fighter. He teaches Goku the Kamehameha and trains both Goku and Krillin. (Ox King as well) He was at one point the world�s strongest man until Goku came along and his power level is approximately 150.
Piccolo
Species: Namekian
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Piccolo is the strongest Namekian ever. He fuses permanently with Nail during the Freeza saga, and then with Kame to defeat the androids. (Where he becomes the strongest z fighter for a while, until Gohan goes SSJ2) Piccolo starts of evil but later becomes a good guy. All he really wants is to become the strongest warrior in the world, but with people like Goku, Vegita and Trunks around, that wont be happening any time soon.
Krillin
Species: Human
From: DB, DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Krillin is the strongest human z warrior besides Tienshinhan. Although warriors like Goku, Vegita, Piccolo or Trunks can surpass his power level millions of times over, Krillin always tries. (You can�t help it if you�re a weakling, but you can always try). Krillin is in all three of Dragonball series�. He marries android 18, and they have a baby named Marron (After Krillans first girlfriend).
Tienshinhan
Species: Human
From: DB, DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Tienshinhan is probably the strongest human ever. He was the first human to have a power level of 1 million, and then Krillin reached it. He and Chaozu started out as bad guys, (Tien even beat Goku in a Tenkaichi Budoukai on a technicality). Tien is best friends with Chaozu.
Yamcha
Species: Human
From: DB, DBZ and DB: GT
Description: We first meet Yamcha in Dragonball; he is a desert bandit and tries to attack Goku and Bulma. Later Yamcha befriends the group and follows them on adventures. Yamcha is always one of the weakest fighters, and after his training with king Kai, his power level is about 35 000, which is pretty small compared to the other humans. Unfortunately he never gets much stronger after that. Master Roshi also trains him. Yamcha is best friends with Tienshinhan and Puar.
Chaozu
Species: Some kind of weird alien emperor
From: DB, DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Chaozu doesn�t play that big of a role in the dbz series but quiet a big role in the original dragon ball. His attacks are all based around telepathy, and it is understood that he was once some kind of emperor on an alien planet. He is best friends with Tienshinhan, and their friendship is a real close one.
King Kai (Kaiou Sama)
Species: Kaiou
From: DBZ
Description: King Kai was Goku�s fourth sensei. He taught Goku his most powerful attacks, the Kai O Ken and Genki Dama (spirit bomb) He lives on a small planet with his pet Bubbles and Gregory.
Dende
Species: Namek
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Dende is a small Namek the Z fighters befriend on Namek. He later proves to be quite useful, for telling the dragon wishes (It speaks and understands English, but the wishes have to be said in Namek.) After Kami and Piccolo fuse, he becomes the earth God.
Kami-sama
Species: Namek
From: DB, DBZ
Description: Kami-sama is the good half of Piccolo Diamo. He is also the earth God until the android saga, when he fuses with Piccolo. To become God he had to get rid of all the evil in him, and that is how Piccolo was created.
Piccolo Diamo
Species: Namekian
From: DB
Description: Translated the name means Piccolo Devil; it is a fitting name seeing as he is the evil half of Kame (the earth God, i.e. the devil). He is a major character in db and is one of young Goku�s toughest enemies. Goku defeated him after a long battle by punching through him with super holy water. Before he exploded he spit out an egg that would hatch to be the Piccolo we all know and love from DBZ.
Raditz
Species: Saya-jin
From: DBZ
Description: Raditz is one of the most important enemies of the series because his death launched the Saya-jin saga that launched the Freeza saga. It�s also what hooked a lot of people on to dbz. Seeing him die was cool, but seeing the noble sacrifice Goku made was even better. To the north American viewers though, the episode where his spaceship come crashing down next to that farmer, has got to be the most hated of them al, it means another couple of months of re-runs.
Nappa
Species: Saya-jin
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Nappa is a big, impatient brute, who loves destruction and death. (Typical Saya-jin). He is always angry, (kinda makes you wonder why he wasn�t a super Saya-jin, he has the anger aspect covered and although his heart is pure evil, it is still pure something.) Nappa escaped from hell in db: gt only to be killed by Vegeta again.
Freeza
Species: Changeling
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Freeza is one of the most ruthless and powerful warriors in all of Dragonball Z. Freeza was the dominant force in the universe until one Super Saya-jin, Goku, wrecked him. Freeza was leader in a planetary sale business with his men where he would take over entire planets, destroy their inhabitants, and then sell the empty planet to another race that was looking to buy. Freeza owned the Ginyu Force, a very powerful and elite group of men with fairly high power levels. Freeza's family was even stronger than he was. King Kold, Freeza's father, was horribly powerful but also fell to a Z Warrior. Super Saya-jin Future Trunks. Freeza was also brought back form hell in Movie 12 and was killed in one punch from the Great Saya-jin man. Freeza�s brother, Kooler, also suffered the same fate as the rest of his family, being killed by Goku in Movies 5 and 6. Bardock predicted that Goku would kill Freeza; he wasn�t quiet right, but close enough.
The Ginyu Force
Species: Mutant
From: DBZ
Description: The Ginyu force is a group of, dancing ballerina men with extremely high power levels. The force is made up of Guldo, a fat, 4 eyed, frogman. Rikoom, a large man that looks like android 16. Although he acts stupid, he is quiet smart. Jeice, an orange bodied, white haired guy, with a decent power level. Baata, a blue guy, with incredible speed and Captain Ginyu, the strongest of them all. They are the strongest of all of Freeza�s men.
Dr. Gero/Android 20
Species: Human/Artificial Human
From: DB and DBZ
Description: Dr. Gero is the last surviving member of the red ribbon army. He has a personal vendetta against Goku for destroying the red ribbon army. He created the androids to destroy Goku. Dr. Gero put his brain into Android 20 and then was destroyed by android 17.
Android 16
Species: Android
From: DBZ
Description: Android 16 is a very powerful android built to destroy Goku, although he hates to fight, he can�t go against his programming. He befriends Gohan and loves nature. He is one of the strongest androids and his death causes Gohan to go SSJ2 and destroy Cell.
Android 17
Species: Android
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Android 17 is the male of a set of twins. He was once a human that was transformed by Dr. Gero, and later destroyed him. He comes back in DB: GT and transforms into Super 17. In Trunks� timeline, android 17 and his sister have practically destroyed the earth and that�s why Trunks goes to the past to warn the z warriors.
Android 18
Species: Android
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Android 18 is the sister of the twin group of #17 and #18. After she joins in the fight with Cell, she hooks up with Krillin and they have a baby.
Android 19
Species: Android
From: DBZ
Description: Android 19 is #20 fat little assistant, he is pretty powerful and he is the person that helps Dr. Gero turn himself into an artificial human, by switching his brain, from is body, to the android body.
Cell
Species: Android
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Cell is an android made of all the cells of the best z warriors. He can do, Goku�s Kamehameha, and teleport, Piccolos Makkansopo, and other powerful moves. Not only that, he can do them faster, while normally it would take Piccolo minutes to charge up his attack, it only takes Cell seconds. Cell is horribly strong and Gohan has to go SSJ 2 before he can beat him. When all the bad guys escape from hell in db: gt, Cell reappears but Chibi (little) Goku destroys him easily.
Buu
Species: Majin
From: DBZ and DB: GT
Description: Majin Buu was perhaps the most powerful enemy ever in all of Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball GT. Buu also did the most amount of damage out of any enemy ever. He absorbed nearly every Z Warrior, killed or absorbed every human on Earth, destroy the Dragon balls, kill King Kai and blow up the planet Earth itself. All of this was fixed eventually with the Dragon Balls but it took some of the best fighting, and the most death ever seen in the series. As if all of this wasn't bad enough, Buu had several transformations as well, each being stronger than the last. Goku managed to destroy Buu in the end with a huge Genki Dama. After that, Evil Buu is re-incarnated as Uubu so Goku can fight and train him.
