The Cell Game
Now there is a tournament held to fight Cell. It is known as the "Cell Game." The deal is if Cell wins he will get to destroy the Earth and if the Z Warriors win... well lets just say Cell won't be alive to see them celebrate. The battle starts out with Cell fighting Goku. The two battle to a standstill and suddenly the fight gets very intense. At the height of the fight Goku suddenly surrenders and tells Gohan to take his place. Goku even gives Cell a Senzu bean so the fight is fair. Everyone around there is shocked by Goku�s decision but Gohan knows why his father did what he did. Gohan explains that he has hidden anger inside of him and that when the anger is activated he becomes incredibly powerful. This power, if unleashed, will be more than enough to defeat Cell.
Cell laughs at this and wants to witness this hidden power for himself. Cell tries to unleash the power by torturing Gohan. Gohan still can't find the anger needed to defeat Cell, or even to fight back against him. So he tries to torture Gohan�s friends by unleashing the Cell Jrs. This still isn�t enough. Because Cell is composed of cells from all of the Z warriors, he also possesses their unique skills. One of these skills is the ability to sense ki. Android 16 knows that he has no ki energy so he sneaks up behind Cell and puts him in a kind of headlock. Android 16 tells everyone to clear the area because he is going to detonate the "doomsday explosive" that Dr. Gero built into all of his androids. Krillin screams out that when Bulma rebuilt him she removed the explosive. Cell laughs and destroys Android 16... again. Since 16 was rebuilt and reprogrammed, Gohan and 16 had become friends. Seeing his friend smashed and then watching Cell deliver the final blow by stepping on 16's head was what finally sent Gohan over the edge. Gohan has surpassed his father and reached the level of Super Saya-jin 2. Gohan is now powered up fully and charges at Cell.
Gohan in his new form is just too much for Cell. Cell is completely overwhelmed and powers up to 100% of his full power. He still cannot manage to defeat SSJ2 Gohan, even at his full strength. Cell, seeing that he has no chance to win, says he is going to detonate the explosive inside of his body so he can take the Earth with him when he dies. Goku sees this and teleports Cell and himself to Kaio Sama's tiny planet. Cell explodes, killing Son Goku, Bubbles, Kaio, and Gregory the cricket. Back on Earth the Z Warriors mourn over the death of their lifetime friend, Goku, but also rejoice over the defeat of Cell.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, an energy ball flies through the air and punctures through Future Trunks. Trunks is dead before he hits the ground. Perfect Cell emerges once again and explains how it is possible for him to be there. He says that after the explosion one of his brain cells survived and this allowed cellular mitosis to occur. (A quick lesson in biology: Cellular Mitosis is when a single cell splits and forms two cells. This process can go on until an entire organism is formed.) Cell says that he was able to regenerate his entire body in perfect form again. Cell also explains that he is much stronger this time because the Saya-jin cells in his body allow him to get stronger after every battle, like Goku does. Now the Z warriors must face Cell again alone without Goku or Trunks.
Maybe it was the death of his only son or the thought of being killed by something possessing his own cells, Vegeta becomes outraged and fires hundreds of energy blasts at Cell. When the smoke clears Cell stands there, tall and unharmed. Cell knocks Vegeta unconscious and prepares to fire a blast to kill Vegeta for good. Cell fires but Gohan intervenes and takes the blast for Vegeta, saving his life. Gohan isn't killed but stands up with half of his body covered in blood.
Now the fight comes down to a Kamehameha duel between Cell and Gohan. (Remember: Cell possesses the skills of the Z Warriors.) The battle goes on to who can hold out the longest. Cell looks to be winning but Gohan is not trying to win, only trying to keep Cell's Kamehameha from hitting him. Now Tienshinhan, Krillin, Yamcha, and Piccolo all fire blasts at Cell to try to distract him. None of the blasts break through and Cell is still unharmed. But now, the Prince of the Saya-jin, Vegeta, wakes up and flies over the head of Cell. Vegeta distracts Cell with a large fireball. Goku now tells Gohan that this is his only chance to win. Gohan powers up his Kamehameha and it overtakes Cell. Cell is completely disintegrated by the blast and the Z Warriors are victorious. (Note: Gohan's Cell killing Kamehameha had a power level of about 400 Million!)
The Z Warriors celebrate and decide to go to Sky Palace. Now Mr. Satan wakes up from unconsciousness and takes the credit for defeating Cell. He says that he alone killed Cell and saved the Earth. The people of Earth rejoice and credit Satan as their hero. Now the Z warriors are on Sky Palace. Dende heals Gohan and brings Trunks back from the dead. Android 18 is also awake up by now and the Z Warriors plan to kill her. Krillin says not to and she makes her escape. Everyone makes fun of Krillin because he has a crush on her. After the fun is over the dragon balls are gathered again to make three wishes. The wishes they make are (1) to take all of the doomsday bombs out of the androids, (2) bring back everyone killed by Cell, and finally the last wish is left unused. The second wish did not bring Goku back from the dead though, he remained in the "next dimension." Goku contacts Gohan telepathically through Kaio Sama and tells him that everything is going to be all right.
Now the Z Warriors all reflect on Goku�s life and Gohan breaks the news about his father to Chi Chi. Seven years pass and Gohan is sixteen years old.
