Nail Trimming
This may be a
happy experience for you and your cat. But for those people who have a
hard time cutting their kitty's nails, here are some things to help you
and educate you. There are two kinds of trimmers:
guillotine and the scissors-type.
A guillotine
has an oval guide. The kitty's claw can go inside it. Once inside, you
can snip the metal part and there ya have it! (This is the type I use and
it's, in my opinion, a lot easier that the scissors type.) The scissors-type
are just like regular scissors. Here's how
you cut the nail:
Gently push the
paw. The nail will come out because cats have retractable claws. If you
look carefully, you will see a pink area coming half way down. DO NOT CUT
THIS PART! Only cut the white part, not the pink. If yo do, it WILLl bleed.
Trust me on this one. But, if you mess up and do vut the pink part, use
“Kwik-Stop powder” to help stop it. Here's
a method people use for cutting nails: Cut one nail a night. It' a whole
lot easier than trying to cut every single nail in one night and trying
to tie you kitty down!
Play Time!
Every cat needs to
play. It's great exercise and it's quality time with you and your cat!
Here are some games you can play with your cat. Provided here are some
tips, too!
A great toy are“cat
fishing poles." If they're too expensive, why don't you just make one.
They're simple to make and you can find alternatives to the things sold
in pet stores. Make sure you don’t make something so small that your cat/kitten
will swallow it. And most importantly, be creative!
Another hit, with
my cat Penny, are cardboard boxes. She loves to play in them. To make them
even more fun, make holes and poke some string into them and just watch
the amazement your cat experiences.
Here are some games
you can play with your kittty:
UFO: In a dark room
use a flashlight for the kitty to chase.
MOUSE: Use an object
for the kitty to chase on ground.
BIRD: Similar to
mouse, but in air.
FISHING: In this
game you are the fisherman and the cat/kitten is the fish. Your
cat/kitten is trying
to catch the object hooked on the pole.
Tips
4 Your Web Site
If you have
a web site, or if you're starting a web site, I'm sure you
would
like to have people who visit it often. Here are some tips:
You need to make
your home page look appealing. Actually,
everything should
look appealing! It should look really good- if not,
that visitor’s on
his way to another web site.
Your web site may
be interesting, but your visitor decides if he
wants to stay or
not. You need to have something that will keep
your visitor glued
to his seat!
I would recommend
you use some type of color and a cool
background. I like
colorful things.
You home page shouldn't
be all words. If you're doing a cat web site,
for example, you
should limit the words and add a few pictures. I
also love to see
lots of pictures- not too many though!
In the links,
do not over picture your visitors. Only 2-3 should be
enough. It will
be very hard for your visitors to read a paragraph if
you have cat animations
dashing though a paragraph!
Also, keep your
page updated often so your visitors will come back to it.
