When I started this program I never expected to be doing what I am today. When I first came to Clarinda I wanted to be involved with tumbling. I thought that I would just be an assistant coach, had never even given a thought about teaching my own program. I heard about the Lied Center and talked to them about being an assistant to their program. Surprise, they called me later and asked me if I wanted to be the head coach. WOW!!! (Their instructor didn't want to continue.) Not what I expected, But I thought "why not, sure I'll give it a try." That was 7 years ago.
As I look back, it all really began for me three years ago. Two of my students who everyone knows well (Anna and Janessa) drove me crazy, they wanted to compete. So I agreed. We decided to compete at the State Fair. The thing is Janessa and Anna were sick of me after that. I guess practicing 5 days a week was not what they expected for their summer plans. But I think if they look back, that is probably where things changed for them too.
A year later I decided to join USTA and start a competition team. Our first year was a learning experience to say the least. Learning all the rules, etc; but I knew that when I started. Now here we are having just completed 2 years of competing, and I can't wait for year number 3.
For those of you that have really gotten to know me you all know this. The kids mean everything to me and even through all the arguing, attitudes, tears and everything else that has happened I wouldn't change it. I can't describe to anyone how it feels to teach a child something, and then to see the smile on their face when they say " I did it." It makes me so very proud to be a part of that.

I would just like to say thank you to all of the people that make this program what it is today. Without you, this would not be possible.
So, with that said, a big thanks to my husband Troy, for putting up with me during the crazy times. Dave Kettwick at The Lied Center, for all of your hard work. Anna Sharr, for all your hard work through out the years. I couldn't have done it without you Kiddo. Miss ya, Hopefully you'll be back to join us this year. All of the parents that help out soooo very much. I can't do it without you either. All of the students for their hard work, and lastly my Mom (Suzi), Leslie and Kalian (my coaches)for being there for me and for giving me the ability to do what I am doing today.  Thanks
