Those Indie Pop Thrill Boys Are BACK !! RETOFF, McKENZIE, BUTLER & PIERCE...RMBP...The Law Firm... whomEVER...but they’re back!..and they’re HERE!...with their glorious new CD
On
r IN THE MOMENT...their first album of NEW material since NOW CAN WE MEET THE MAHARISHI? (‘94) r IN THE MOMENT...their first NEW release of ANY kind since the French Import pop-u-mentary disc, THE RETOFF, McKENZIE, BUTLER & PIERCE STORY (‘97) r IN THE MOMENT...11 trippy songs...produced & mixed as a karmic homage to George Martin, Terry Melcher & Loog Oldham...pressed & packed in back-to-the-roots-D.I.Y. fashion!
SCIENCE IS BAFFLED ! (...or, at least, the indie press is floored...) Beverly Paterson, brainy diva of the indie pop media, chirps: “IN THE MOMENT is indeed the cat’s meow....All great stuff!”
Jeremy, potentate of Jam Records and esteemed indie solo artist, chatters: “This is authentic ‘60s for real and I DIG IT!!!!”
Stanton Swihart, music writer extraordinaire for AMG on the Net, chortles: “IN THE MOMENT is an outstanding album. The band sounds revivified and ecstaic music together at their studio, The Psychedelic Farmhouse. The result is RMBP’s finest full-length effort, by turns playful and adventurous, amiably uncomplicated yet willing to explore new ground. With IN THE MOMENT, ‘the law firm’ alternates between perfect bare-bone garagethump, as in ‘Bout My New Love (cut 1), and pure pop/rock, like The Real Side Of Love (cut 7).... With any airplay, Love I Can’t Control (cut 9) could be the new era’s “Little Bit O’ Soul” or “Yummy, Yummy, Yummy”.... And The Chant For Psychedelic Girls (cut 6)...yikes!...who knew this kind of stuff went on in rural Illinois?!...Incidentally, the artwork is beautiful!”
Eric Sorensen, au courant contributor to the stellar indie pop site, fufkin.com, chirrs: “IN THE MOMENT is the latest release from heartland (Illinois) popsters, Bill Retoff, Dan McKenzie, David Butler and Ed Pierce--better known as RMBP (no, they’re not a law firm). This quartet has been wearing their ‘60s influences on their shirtsleeves ever since they first recorded together in 1989. Veteran RMBP fans and new fans alike will be pleased by another full-length disc that is brimming with jangly and melodic ear candy. Sugar From The Stars (cut 11) is my favorite tune, but the 11 tracks move so seamlessly that the listening pleasure is over almost too quickly. This can be remedied by pressing the Replay button and enjoying more of the good karma that Bill Retoff and his cohorts at The Psychedelic Farmhouse have recorded on our behalf. Long may you run, RMBP!”
...WITH ALL THIS PRAISE! ... WITH ALL THIS HYSTERIA!! ...WITH ALL THIS EXCITEMENT!!! CAN YOU AFFORD NOT TO HAVE THIS CD IN YOUR COLLECTION??? Well, no doubt, yeah you could. BUT... IF YOU DIG GROOVIN’, GLISTENIN’ INDIE POP, THEN L’NOUVEAU CD FROM R M B P IN THE MOMENT IS A COOL-E-VOUS “MUST HAVE” DISC TO OWN. AND OWN YOU CAN!...
