I was born and spent my childhood in the South of Russia, near the Black Sea. I grew up in a beautiful city of Krasnodar and then moved to the United Kingdom at the age of 18.
I am a self-taught artist and I have been painting since I was old enough to hold a brush. It was so much a part of me that I didn't realise until my late teens that I wanted to be a painter.
Painting sets me free. The paradox is that I feel free when I capture. I capture a vision, a moment of my world. It isn't a photograph because I am not trying to catch an image. I capture a feeling, a sensation.
I often see beauty where most people won't notice it. When I manage to get someone to feel, to see that beauty through my painting I know that my work is a success.
I love working with acrylics. It suits my character as I work fast and sometimes get impatient. Acrylics dry fast, allowing me to often finish a painting in one go. I like using my fingers instead of a brush for a real feel of the paint.
My current work is a series of black and white or grey and white. I am fascinated by the way a human eye can see so many colours in a two-colour painting.
